"Admiral, I'm looking at the survey results. Is your crew still having instrument malfunctions? I'm not liking the results I'm seeing."

"You think I do? The Orion Hegemony placement of their wormholes could have provided us an excellent strategic advantage."

"if we hadn't already placed ours you mean."

"Exactly."

"I endorsed your proposal so I'm in the same mudpuddle as you."

"Your insight never fails to impress Gnaw. Would you care to join me on the hunt tomorrow? One of my more ambitious underlings found a very nice valley with a delightful savannah. Perfect for the prey I have in mind."

"Ah. I shall bring a bottle to console you on the loss of such a promising officer."

"I doubt much consolation will be needed. I said he was ambitious, not smart and ambitious."

"Then we shall drink in celebration of the hunt. I shall clear my schedule and join you."

Also you've apparently made a decision on orientation, but I don't know what it is! Can I have a quick update of the actions thread as to what everyones orientations are?

Got a dilemma here, do I risk giving you a double tier 1 explore or connect to twelve and potentially morgoth....

Also interesting decision twelve, I've been worried about you connecting to my homeworld, and you've gone out of your way not to, cheers!

PS Have I mentioned I hate wormhole hexes

Heh. You're right. And I just realized that the orientation Twelve did also blocks him from Sector 1. Twelve, is that what you wanted?

The exploration ships have encountered a strange new phenomenom, a warp portal which disappears into unknown space. The one hardy scout ship who ventured through it has yet to re-emerge, this phenomenom clearly requires more study.

Aside from this strange phenomenom, the rest of the system is barren save for one planet which may aid our economy and a strange ancient device. Scout ships have been sent to investigate this device. As yet the planner minds have no interest in monetary gains.

Orient: position 2, or 5. Wormholes facing N, NE, S and SW Influence the system, but don't colonise the planet. What do I get?

Feel free to return the favor and not connect with Vega. If we are going to run into each other let it be at Tier I where we have to go the long way around to reach each other's homeworlds.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

The flaming thumbtacks question our decisions? Though we may have been exiled all these long years our minds have been tested in the long fight of surviving on the scraps of the cosmos. We would like for the orientation to remain as stated.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

The ones known as Planta have sent our seedlings out into the black lifeless vastness in search of new worlds on which to spread our colonies. In the space designated Iota Persei by the single minds we have found nothing, no ground in which to sink our roots and raise our leaves to the suns. Despair. Could it be that there are no more worlds - shall we suffocate under our own numbers?

Yet there is hint of something in the blackness. Something unknown to those known as Planta. Do those known as Planta ignore it, carry on the search, or do the ones known as Planta pause?

Despair turns to joy! Worlds discovered! Worlds in Tau Librae! The rains fall, the sun shines! Yet, the ground is hard, tough to punch through. It will take much time to truly adapt to these conditions, but once the ones known as Planta do, our blessed infestation shall thrive upon these rocks.

Place both hexes in their present orientations (1). I assume that this is possible as Tau Librae will connect to Iota Persei, which connects to my homeworld. Influence Iota Persei to uncover discovery.

"I think I've made a terrible error of judgement."

"Chmee Gnaw that is an excellent bottle. A word before we enjoy it though. Second Daughter see to the disposition of that carcass. The rest of you go away."

"Admiral Kzaargh congratulations on the new ears adorning your belt. He fought well."

"He did. Brave along with ambitious, and stupid. I'm surprised he rose to staff rank. I must look at his previous postings; there is a lax ship commander in his history. Ah well, the survey ship has returned with accurate readings. The Orion and Exiles have both encountered our Cousins and have placed their wormholes so that they have walled themselves off from the Galactic Center. While that should be good news it does mean that either of them may need encroach our space to regain access. I recommend that you approach them both. An appraisal of their intentions is absolutely necessary for my staff to accurately gauge the success of our future endeavors."

"Of course Kzaargh. It shall be done. Shall we enjoy the bottle then?"

"Food first Gnaw. I find I have quite the appetite. I'll await you at the table."

"I'll join you in a few minutes. Secretary, walk with me. I have a task for a couple of our embassy staff. Send greetings to our neighbors."

No wormhole facing Sector I?!?

And you can't influence Iota Persei using that rotation unless you influence Tau Librae as well.

Quote

Choose one of the unexplored spaces next to a hex where you have a Ship or an Influence Disc
<snip>

If you decide to place the tile, the fol lowing restrictions apply:
  • the hex can be placed only to the spot that you explored • the hex must be oriented so that at least one of the Wormholes on the hex connects with a Wormhole on
  • one of the hexes where you have a disc or a Ship

Why ever not?

Iota Persei is the one joined to my homeworld, not Tau Librae.

Or are you saying that I have it wrong about which one is the south explore and which one is the south-west explore?

Iota Persei is the Tier II hex. If you don't influence Tau Libare then you must rotate Iota Persei so there is a wormhole facing NE towards your homeworld as you can only explore adjacent to a hex where you either have an influence disk or an unpinned ship.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

There is another fucking shit Tier II hex still out there, Zeta Reculi. Chances are someone is going to end up with it as there are 6 tier II hexes left and 5 slots to explore. You can always discard that hex if you don't want it.

Rotate Iota Persei one degree anti-clockwise, rotate Tau Librae two degrees anticlockwise. Influence Iota Persei.
