Congrats D'rek. Especially on your poor early round draws. I thought for sure you were destined for last place after the first couple of rounds but thanks to some great play and a bit of help from Khell and Tatts you were then able to advance most of the game unimpeded. Very nice job. I was trying to do that strategy this game and it failed miserably. Glad to see that it can be a successful strategy.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Cheers everyone! 6000 posts?! Could any of us have expected this to be that big of a thread by the end when we started? Goes to show that half of this game was the discussions, the posturing, the jokes, veiled threats and backstabs!
I'm still thinking back to that "oh shit" moment when we realized too late Gnaw was about to Nova Burst the crap out of our interceptor fleet.
Good game! Now let's get game 6 going!

Congrats D'rek for a great game!
But I had only just erased Nova Burst from my memory, sigh. My favourite moment was opening up the warp portal and invading Gnaw's territories, before the 1 in 100 successful defence of the warp portal hex. Of course, all that led to my eventual fizzle out of the game, but it was super fun at the time

Unfortunately the nova burst was pretty much the high point of the game for the descendants.

I think the appropriate lesson to learn from this game is: if you're next to D'rek or Twelve, stomp them. Early and often.

Well played guys, this game has some of my best eclipse moments, Nova burst, khells warp portal antics, drek demolishing Orion with interceptors alone, gnaw doing utterky bonkers things to have the last move, the great homeworld migration, some great battles with twelve and new levels of pinning calculus and cfs unfortunate exit after taking his alliance to a dominant position.
Well deserved winner in drek, for some really great play.

Good work everyone.
Sorry I shit the bed so completely back in round 5 or whatever it was. Thought I had that round soooooo in the bag and didn't account for one stupid disc. Still kicking myself for that.
Looking forward to Game VI!!!!!!

I think this picture illustrates the chaos this game devolved into, original homeworld locations marked.
Well played to Gnaw for having a ship or a disc in 5! homeworlds at the end of the last turn... and not one of them his own!
I kind of wish Tatts assault on Gnaws homeworld, and Khell/tapper on D'reks had succeeded, then every player would have lost there own homeworld and occupied someone elses.

But yet I finished in a tie for 6th place out of 9 people.

Heh. Thank Khell for that not happening.
