@Gothos, Dave Henson is gold... have you seen his other songs? The Vuvuzela song is good and all, but I think his best is still what brought him to attention, his reaction to Leicester losing in the playoffs:

Watching Brasil v Portugal, and it was illuminating to see that a ridiculously blatant handball by Juan at almost the last line of defence (Brasil) rates a yellow. We all know what would have happened if it was an Aussie or another 2nd-3rd rank side ... :)

And yes I am aware of the difference between in the field and "denying a goal", but blatantly deliberate handball is blatantly deliberate handball, whereas accidental shoulder/upper bicep ball is something else.

EDIT: Melo (Brasil) just got taken off by his coach after a pretty crude challenge. Any more of that and it would have been red card time and 10 men. Smart move by the coach.

i was really hoping to be able to watch a replay fo a good game when i got home from work, but that does not seem to be the case with the Brazil and Port game. no goals? i mean really? did brazil just not care of did port play good D and their goalie was on? or was it really both sides werent putting much effort into it? sad sad sad.

Brasil v Portugal was simply a training run for both teams. Maybe FIFA should hand back the money to those in the stands because they obviously didn't see a genuinely competitive match, which was what they paid to see.

Unfortunately I was way too tired to finish watching Chile v Spain, but what I did see was great fun. Chile was really taking it to Spain, running their absolute legs off and giving 100% all over the field.

A pity about the result, but at least Chile got through. They went all out even though they didn't really have to, although adding Spain to early exits by France and Italy would have been sweet. :)

The last 20 minutes were a complete farce, so if that's what you missed then don't worry about it... The last ten minutes pretty much involved Spain practicing their passing with Chile practicing their standing around.

Up till then it was great though. Chile are great and I hope they beat the rather boring Brazil. But they won't, because they don't score anywhere near enough goals for all their silky play and couldn't defend a counter-attack for all the nukes in North Korea, so yeah...

I hope that red card gets rescinded though, that was ridiculous. Torres should be ashamed of himself. And I speak as an Arsenal fan, so I have huge experience of being ashamed of your players diving.

Uggggghhhhhh. U-G-L-Y you ain't got no alibi US is ugly. Terrible football by US, Ghana look fantastic though.

Being fair, he was clipped, his heel bounced off the Estrada's knee which is why he clipped himself. Was completely accidental though and the contact definitely didn't warrant staying down.

On the other hand, not only him but other Chile players could easily have been a sent off. So unfair as that one was they can't really complain too vociferously.
Was it Vidal who stamped on Torres' shin while getting up at one point? That was a straight red if the red saw it.

Oh, I can guarantee that 100% is completely off as well. Maybe 50% had some interest and we were in the knock-out rounds. Soccer goes back to being behind NFL, MLB, NBA, College Football, College Basketball, and Hockey.

People like the sports they grow up with, and it'll take a long time, if ever, for it to supplant the others. I think at times it's more important than hockey, but it's arguable. The others just have such a massive head-start.

As for ads, we play them in non-World Cup games (MLS, Qualifiers, etc) with a 50/50 screen split. Not a lot, but it happens 4 to 5 times a half. The only station that doesn't is Fox Soccer Channel when it's playing Euro league games.
