I watched the England-Germany game live on an old rear-projection TV with fuzzy reception and even I saw in real time that should have been a goal 
Still, the Germans were the better team and well-deserved victors. May have made it a better second half though if the Poms thought they had a sniff.
Hint Tor The English Soccer Team From Someone Who Only Played It At High School: defenders, learn to defend. Especially against the counter-attack.
(this free advice goes to the Socceroos too, I just thought the Poms may have more of a chance of learning it successfully)
Was it just me or did both the English and Aussie teams have players that were just too slow? Sometimes it looked as if their opponents were getting a decent lead, then waiting for them to catch up so it wouldn't look so sad.

On a serious and non-gloating note, that's Brazil-Holland for the quarters. that's going to be tasty. I'll be supporting Brazil for that one, though it's a close call.

Brazil looked great dismantling the Chileans this afternoon. Seems like they had an extra gear as compared to Chile. They looked even better today than Argentina did against Mexico.

I wouldn't say they are boring. Maybe not as flashy as in the past but they had a lot of runs from their defenders and could have scored 5 or 6 goals yesterday. I think the fact that we haven't seen smothering defence in the past from the Braziilans is throwing people off. I think there was a good balance between attacking and defending yesterday.

I don't. I was actually angry watching them. I mean, it's not that they're not capable in attack, it's that they sit behind the ball till the opponent gets into their area, win it back, and lump it down the pitch. There's no rythm, no tempo and only the barest bones of strategy. The only skill involved is bringing the long punts down and beating the keeper.
It's basically a faster version of Greece 2004, but they had the excuse that their players are crap. Brazil have no excuse for this kind of thing.
And I'm a person who enjoys watching Stoke.

Ronaldo never turned up this world cup and now they're out. I kind of wanted them to win but now I'm a bit meh. At least we won't have both Germany and Argentina going through...

I was rooting for Chile. You just have to respect a team with the football philosophy that defense is for little girls. Even one of their center defenders used to play center forward.

maybe, but when you try to pass it into your opponents net instead of fucking shooting you arent going to win the world cup. if chile had of sent of a shot or two that game might have been very different. as it was it was like watching a poor arsenal team with the motto of "one more pass before the breach". sometimes you gotta just let rip!
