I have never been able to find Twinkies when I've been in the US. I have looked, it has been important to me because Ghostbusters and Die Hard. What's the deal? Am I moron or are they only in specific stores?

May have been when you were here and looking for them. They at one time were discontinued, but then brought back due to public backlash. I can find them at most "convenience stores" (i.e. 7-Eleven, Kum & Go, Circle K et. al).

1 month to go before I am american!
quick question, this might be a ridiculous question it might not be. How important is it to own an iphone in the us? In SA i use whatsapp to message everyone for free, I message friends in europe for free. When i message Americans they tell me they dont have it. I dont know how much of a thing it really is but im told if you dont have imessage your out of the loop?
Also in SA if you get a new phone contract its worth getting a new phone. the data/call contract subsidizes the phone hardwqre to a sginficant degree. A new phone lets say is 10k. The data package is 10k over two yeats and the combined package would be like R12.5k over two years. Im told in america its not like this?

It's more cost effective to buy a phone upfront there's unlocked and then get a contract for data per month agreed upon with the company that has the best local coverage for you.
Most people generally can't afford to spend $800 at once on a phone, so they agree to an inflated contract that gives them a phone that's paid off monthly over the course of the contract and a certain amount of data per month.
If you already have an iPhone, then bring it and use it. You'll be able to chat with people through iMessage or Google Hangouts or Signal or WhatsApp without a problem.
I'm not sure how much data you will consumer per month. When I worked at a place that let me use their WiFi freely, I barely used 1.5 gig per month. But I got a higher salary job at a place that didn't let me use their WiFi and I decided to get unlimited data per month. Costs me about $65 a month with Verizon.
I suggest signing up for a 5 gig a month plan and then adjusting as you need after the first month.

The more troublesome thing is that the way waiters bring the card reader to your table to take your card payment doesn't really exist here in the USA. They take your card away, out of sight usually, swipe it, and then bring it back to you for a signature on the paper slip.

Checks?!
That's fancy man's devil paper. We don't take kindly to those of your ilk 'round these parts. We settle our trades with buffalo nickles, beaver furs or 'pox blankets. It's got have some utility other then kindlin' for the fire or to wipe our backsides.

Yeah this annoyed me. In my country this would result in card fraud in five minutes. At least your starting to discover chips and pins.
Also its annoying, and I think one server got stiffed on a tip by me becuase of it, but when the bill came and it was for 10 dollars I have her my card and said take 11.50. She returned gave me my card back and I left. I discovered later she took only ten dollars. Apparently your supposed to give the card a second time for the tip after the first. How barbaric!

More importantly should I just sell my ps4 here and buy it in the states on cyber monday? Instead of transporting it.

Embrace it. If someone cuts you with a knife, you better bleed red, white and blue. Oh, and don't forget to pick up your free gun next to the baggage claim at the airport.

Have you been practicing your Chewing tobacco to bald eagle conversion measurements instead of the metric system?

Fast food, fast cars and fast woman! I love guns! Go trump! Maga! The imperial units remain completly baffling. I may make a small laminated card to carry with the conversions!

My brain works in a very weird combination of metric and imperial. For peoples height and weight I only understand imperial. Same for driving speed and driving distances. For distance and heights of things that I can estimate by eye it is all metric. Cooking measurements and temperatures are metric too.
My sat nav has to be in imperial or I don't understand when I am near to a turn off yet I have no idea how many feet are in a yard or yards in a mile.

No, not a fast woman. Instead a thick lady who can wrestle most of your male friends into a whimpering, 'I give up!', pretzel. Who can shot-gun a sixer of 'tall boys' of Milwaukee's Best beer as she is driving to your parent's house for Thanksgiving 3 hours away. Who can field dress a 12 point buck she dropped with her bow while simultaneously giving birth to your eighth child. And if she can cut the lid off the can of Bush's baked beans with that one, prominent, strong tooth, that would be a bonus.
And not fast cars either. Instead, a Truck that screams "I've got a small dick!", with the lift kit and huge tires that puts you at eye level with commercial semi-trailers on the road. And with the truck nuts dangling from the hitch and a personalized license plate that reads "PSYETR", for a classy touch.
Oh and don't forget the double stacks pouring out the black smoke to really gain the admiration of those sharing the road with you.
