I've heard Smallville is a great place to live and Lexcorp always seems to be in need of scientists.

Look at Houston, Dallas in Texas. Shreveport, New Orleans, Baton Rouge in Louisiana. Atlanta in Georgia. Nashville in Tennessee. Little Rock in Arkansas.

Don’t look in Mississippi. *shudder

Are these biotech hot spots? I thought it was mostly SFO, Boston, New Jersey, and NYC for that field.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

I'm told Houston actually does have quite a bit of biotech.

I'd enjoy having car sex, or bedroom sex! Raging feat party sex! Hollywood is all real right?

Yah definitely, in the 21st Century, move to a coastal city. Maybe invest all your money in real estate.

Boston, man. Go Boston.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Apparently Chicago has a thriving biotech thing going on.

City has its issues but it is pretty awesome.

Cause is officially replacing Huckabee Sanders.

I can not comment on this non-fake news at this time

I don't know where I will end up just yet, but have started the job hunt on LinkedIn. Fingers crossed for a good jon, in a good city. I don't know where I want to go. I think most places will be fine but I do have an idea where to avoid. The flyover states are called that for a reason I'm sure. I imagine they don't exactly have huge biotech jobs though either.

I figure the first year or more Ill have to rent everything and avoid major purhcases since I may have to job hop and state hop in the beginning. My understanding is moving around for jobs is quite common in the states?

I really wasn't blown away by New York and I'm still not exactly sure why because I loved London! I think a lot of it was just due to how dingy the subway was. That said a city like that does seem appealing. A city with lots to do, science museums, history museums, food, plays, theatres, events etc.

My biggest worry is that I wont have friends or family. So I need ways to meet new people. I may have to go to shull again just to meet people, though I have not been for over twenty years. Not sure what other avenues to try just yet. I think online dating may be something I depend on, my girlfriend may also be the only person I know (which may make for some unhealthy clinginess). Still a city with lots to do and explore will also be a reason to leave my apartment and not become a Netflix/gaming recluse.

If you come to NYC, we can play DnD!

I lived there for years. Boston is mostly a terrible city. The transportation is tough, the weather is tough, the people are frequently racist, and the regular people are squeezed by rapidly rising rents. If the job brings you there, I get it. But if you have the pick prior to getting a job, I wouldn't recommend it.

America is really letting me down.

They never issued me my social secirty number in January, I presume paperwork lost in shutdown or something. So I had to email London for permission to apply outside the US. London got back to me after a month saying to book an appointment at the consulate. The consulate has told me they cant help and I must fly to London. If I could fucking fly to London just to fill out some papers I might as well fly to fucking America!!!

I went on Amazon to look up the cost of a baseball bat. Just curious.

Nearly half of all reviews focus on the bat's quality to fight off intruders with! I thought that was a movie thing

okay researching American culture continues to shock and delight.

30 ML baseball teams who each play 162 games a year? Who the hell can treack all of this? Plus NBA, NFL and whatever cool acronym hockey has and you still find time to watch college sports?

That's easy enough - none of them are worth your time except maybe the NBA playoffs.

You're welcome. ;)

1 month to go before I am american!

quick question, this might be a ridiculous question it might not be. How important is it to own an iphone in the us? In SA i use whatsapp to message everyone for free, I message friends in europe for free. When i message Americans they tell me they dont have it. I dont know how much of a thing it really is but im told if you dont have imessage your out of the loop?

Also in SA if you get a new phone contract its worth getting a new phone. the data/call contract subsidizes the phone hardwqre to a sginficant degree. A new phone lets say is 10k. The data package is 10k over two yeats and the combined package would be like R12.5k over two years. Im told in america its not like this?

Ok, since you you're about to permanently land on these glorious shores and expirence freedom and liberty so much that your head is going to explode, I've decided to bring you back around to the "sweets" topic. Once you get off the airplane and hit the ground running, seek out the nearest Costco or CVS and get your hands on a box of these delectables. You'll be 'muricaning the fuck out of it and bro fist pounds will be overwhelming for awhile. All the best too, as you settle in. Freedom the fuck on!

Limited time only, so don't miss this opportunity to snatch up a box or two, or three, four ...Posted Image
