No worries, £115,000 won't be worth much in the near future.

Boris withdrew from consideration. Probably gonna be that Sunak guy, yeah? Penny Mordaunt sounds like someone whom the Sorting Hat chooses House Slytherin at Hogwarts.

A bit harsh on Slytherin, that.

Mordaunt is ERG, so basically one of the most fascistic elements in the Tory part.
It's a total fuck. This party has zero integrity, zero direction, zero ability, zero reason to keep heads on necks. Get Bessie prepared.

Well, Penny whoever is out so Rishi the non-dom billionaire tax cheat is going to be the PM. He's going to "fix the economy" apparently, despite but doing so when he was chancellor for 2 years.
I can't even celebrate that he's the first noon white PM either. They're just so unrelentingly awful that I can't find it in me to care about that.

Classic financial success story:
1. Marry someone who inherited a lot of money
2. Don't pay taxes (and ignore other inconvenient laws and regulations)
In this case, more of a riches-to-ultrariches success story...
And post-Brexit, the UK is free to marry as many wealthy authoritarian regimes as the Tories choose to?... But that's probably being overly optimistic.

Incidentally if you watch that actual speech it kind of looks like his autocue stops and he's not with it enough to say anything else so he just stands for a second and then leaves the stage.

And of course there are bootlickers defending his non-dom tax evasion scam whilst serving as chancellor of the exchequer because it was 'legal', despite that if you or me did anything of the sort we'd be looking at no less than a decade in prison.

Not a chance in the current setup. It would require a vote of no confidence, but the Tories have a large commons majority and they aren't going to undermine themselves. If there would be an election now, the Tories would get wiped out. So unless the internal fractions become such that there will be a full blown MP rebellion, there is no way that the Tories will initiate an election or support a vote of no confidence in large enough numbers to get a house majority.

One small silver lining is I see Jacob Rees-Mogg has quit the cabinet.
Presumably there'll be no further need for a minister for the 1800s. I hope it means the ridiculous wholesale scrapping of any law touched by the EU he put forward will quietly die off now he isn't there to push it. Who needs workers' rights or food standards anyway, eh?

A GE is a nice thought, but I don't know if Sunak has democracy on his priority list. He's a very rich man. Capital was put on its back foot when Jan 6 didn't succeed, but after Lula wins and then gets denied office or immediately couped, a whole lot of right wing parties in nominally 'safe' democracies are gonna have their eyes light up real bright. Could be wrong, the UK's far enough away, and maybe a GE will be called early cuz the people demand it. Then Keir Starmer will save the day by, uh, being personally enriched to maintain austerity policy, which should go great. Still, delaying the full collapse by one or two election cycles is better than 0 election cycles.

'As a student, he told documentary makers that he had friends who are aristocrats, friends who are upper class and friends who are working class before remembering: "Well, not working class".'
'Sunak once boasted that he had changed Labour party policies "which shoved all the funding into deprived urban areas" so that funding could go to wealthy towns instead.
[...] "Sunak seems intent on turning off household support for energy bills next April. He plainly thinks that meeting an arbitrary target of reducing national debt is more important than saving people from penury. [...] would see up to 40% of households struggle to pay their mortgage."'
