Has anyone started infusion weapons or armor yet to get stronger items?
All day everyday, my friend. XD
How much does it help and how do you actually do it?
OK.
Step 1: Have a Legendary weapon/armour.
Step 2: Have a more powerful (light rating) weapon/armour - green, blue, purple, doesn't matter.
Step 3: Have at least 3 Legendary Marks, 1 Mote of Light, some materials, glimmer, etc.
Step 4: Equip the item from step 1. Press Y(triangle?) to Inspect it.
Step 5: Hover over the left-most icon that looks like a golden logo of some kind (kinda like the 'Ascend' icon previously). Press whatever button your PS version tells you to press. XD
Step 6: Select the item you wish to Infuse the
currently equipped item with.
So, for example: I have a Light 200 chest (legendary). I also have a Light 250 chest (rare). I equip the Legendary piece (because it's the one I want to make more powerful), and go into the details/infuse menu. Then I select the Light 250 rare chest, and hold X(square?) to dismantle for infusion. Boom. I now I have a Light 240-ish Legendary chest. No more rare 250.
It only works on weaker armours being upgraded with more powerful armours as the sacrificial piece. No sacrificing a lower-level armour for more power. It only works on Legendaries (or things with the Infuse icon, I guess, but basically only Legendaries). It costs Legendary Marks and Motes, plus a handful of other items. And it won't (probably) get it up to the *same* power as the piece you sacrificed if the difference is larger than a few points (think 90% of the old piece in most cases where the difference is more than 10 points). You'll need to find more powerful items to sacrifice to it later to make it even better.
Long story short; do it on weapons with great perks and stats that you want to use, but are lagging in the attach/defense rating area. Easiest way to rank up your favourite gear and get more powerful.
...of course, this doesn't mean you shouldn't ever wear that 290 rare boots - if it helps you get over the line for a Heroic or whatever, it's better to use something more powerful in the short term, than a midway compromise. Especially as you may just get an even more powerful drop after that event. *shrug* But generally, infuse, infuse, infuse. If you've got something you like, anyway.
