Or, you know, maybe just emigrate? The day I would think of wearing bulletproof clothing as a normal consideration is the day I would get the heck out of there. I am hoping this is satire, but I just genuinely don't know anymore when it comes to US everyday life.

Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Not satire. I'd love to emigrate but I have an elderly cat, among other obligations and complications. That's probably even more true for most people.

A great comment by NathanielTrent:

"Not his worst idea" is a pretty low bar to jump over.

Actually, that thread is full of gems.

Ah, so that's the reason why he's coming to Denmark. I can't wait to read our primeministers memoirs of that meeting.

I think that geopolitically it's for the best that Denmark continues to be the sorveign of Greenland, at least until it one day gains it's feet.

Supposedly, Greenland is, in part, the key to who owns the rights to the North Pole. You don't want that landmass to be in the hands of any of the super powers.

Also: 'the island is rich in natural resources like iron ore, zinc, and oil, which are becoming more accessible as climate change melts Arctic ice'

Part of his plan to fix the economy?... 'Buy that island! Buy that island!'

'the decision is not even Denmark’s to make. Legally and morally, the island’s 56,000 residents—most of whom are ethnically Greenlandic Inuit—get to decide on any international union that their state joins.

[... Greenland has] one of the most socialist political systems in the world. [...] private land ownership does not exist in Greenland: All the land is controlled by one of five local kommunes, a word that looks a lot like “commune” but is usually translated into English as the more innocuous “municipality.” Greenlanders neither own nor pay rent for the land they live on. [...] Both medical care and prescription drugs are free. [...] While Greenland’s infant mortality rate of 8.9 deaths per 1,000 births is higher than the U.S. average of 5.8, it is lower than the rate for black Americans (11.4) and for Native Alaskans and American Indians.

The ethic of common ownership extends to just about every enterprise in Greenland. The country’s largest fishing company is state-owned. Its largest retailer is state-owned. [...]

Greenland relies on $591 million in annual subsidies from the Danish Parliament, or about $10,550 in aid per resident. [...] And while it may sound like a lot, it is not so far outside the bounds of state spending in the United States. Today, Congress gives an average of $12 billion in grants to each state government every year, and in 2016, each New Mexican received roughly $9,700 in net federal subsidies, which is only slightly less than the average Greenlander’s $10,550 haul.'

Trump exhorting that serious consideration is being given to labelling antifa a terrorist group.

I wonder why a fascist would want that

Lemme tell ya, it's a problem, the biggest problem, I've seen some problems and this is the best problem, the biggest problem, y'know? Hillary had some emails, she doesn't do problems, only emails.

I thought it was quite funny. I mean US could use Greenland for its most northern bases for more rockets and military bases. It’s a bargain at five hundred billion dollars.

That’s only like what half one year of our military budget? Let’s do it.

If they don’t comply.. the US and trump/congress could place economic sanctions/tariffs on Denmark and use its European cohorts to strengthen these...I could see both sides of aisle agreeing of this.

See the left agrees , the residents are mainly socialists. The left would love it

I'm sure you're still trolling but if we set aside the fact that normal people aren't for sale (An alien notion for a bankrupt republican), normal countries aren't for sale (A peculiar notion to a corrupt nation) and the fact that there's likely far more resources hidden I Greenland than the US national debt - There's the notion of global power balance.

Greenland is a buffer between east and west. A neutral area. That's a good thing, it's the same reason why Europe historically resisted a Scandinavian union, too much power.

Greenland is thought to hold the (one of the) keys to who actually owns land rights to The North Pole. As their position on the northern landmass connects them directly with the area.

The US, Russia and China want access to the North Pole for military and resource purposes. That's dangerous in terms of world peace. Keeping Greenland free and using them as a mediary between these powers is key.

(Also Denmark wants their Greenland milkshake for themselves)

Is this a distraction tactic by Trump? What is he up to domestically right now that he is trying to obscure? Is he even that clever or does the stream of consciousness just keep coming and we are the fools for trying to mould it into something coherent?

I'm sure the Danish people are devastated he isn't coming to visit your country now.

Actually, some are pretty pissed off. First he invites himself, first breach of diplomatic decorum, but okay, it'll slide. But then he says he might not come at all, and that was after all the preparations has begun. A lot of people find it rather insulting.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

I think he has people around him to think up all sorts of strategies and he promises to not tweet about their secret strategies or otherwise undermine them and then five minutes later we get stream of consciousness.

This is a man who still doesn't get that writing 10 tweets about how much you don't care about scaramouchi means you care about scarmocuhi.

I really don't think we are dealing with a strategic mastermind here at all, we are dealing with a man born to privilidge as a billionaire and he has been tripping himself and falling ass backwards into success ever since despite himself.

I don't want to say he wont win again because I said he woul never win the first time and I was dead wrong but I think, for whatever reason I don't understand, people hated Hillary more than they loved him. I think his chances for re-election look grim right now and will get worse if the trade-war backfires, the stocks crash or the economy slows even a bit. Of course if china goes into economic meltdown and N Korea agrees to peace if Trump will allow Kim jon Un to be his BFF the man will go down in history as the greatest American who ever lived. It could happen..... It could...... I swear!
