Went to the cinema (fuck has it got expensive to go to the cinema!) To watch Ritchie's latest offering, The Gentlemen.

A bit of a return to form for him. It's no lock stock or snatch but still entertaining.

Hugh Grant is excellent in it, as is Colin Farrell.

Coming at this from a horror - psych thriller slant. Which I think is correct, yeah? From what I remember skimming over New Mutants comics, there were some issues that had outright disturbing subject matter and story lines. Am I right, or am I thinking of something else?

...

There was one single horror plotline regarding a demon bear that ran for maybe six issues with some build-up.
Arguably Illyana's character plotline had horror elements but its a stretch.

I genuinely believe this hot mess was a generic horror movie script that some bright soul decided to plug some unused X-men characters into and some other bright soul approved because as we know Fox, Sony, and co genuinely don't understand what they have/had with the X-Men properties except that people will spend money to see even bad movies about them.

It has taken like a decade to get to the current April 2020 release date (which will likely still be moved). Everything about this movie screams crapshow.

All the signs are there.

Nothing suggests this will be anything but a bad movie being released on a gullible audience in a desperation hail Mary fling to make back even a tiny shred of the money spent on it.

And yet... and yet... and yet...

Illyana: "I killed eighteen men. One. By. One".

... with the accent and the dead eyes and then the sword and the portal and my inner kid who read those comics is jumping up and down screaming YAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH IT'S FUCKING DARKCHYLDE HOLY X-FUCK YAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH.

Dammit they're going to fuck me one more time, aren't they?

I'll probably give it a gander when it comes to basic cable or whatever. I have a soft spot in my heart for the under dogs, so will give them my eyes. I'll probably hate it though.

Recently had an LOTR re-watch myself. It's been awhile since I watched LOTR, so I am reminded and absolutely struck anew, to my core, at how perfect Cate Blanchett is in the role of Galadriel. Enchanting, beautiful, mesmerizing, haunting ... perfect.

Watched All is Lost recently. I remember reading about this movie when it came out and made a mental note to myself to watch it eventually. Well, I've finally watched it and it didn't disappoint. I really enjoy movies like this. They break up the sameness and monotony that can set in when the entertainment biz puts out the same or very similar options continuously. Other then the narration of a short letter as the movie opens, and a brief S.O.S plea on the radio, there is no dialog. It's just Robert Redford battling for his life after his boat gets incapacitated in the middle of nowhere on the ocean. The ending is amazing. I know these type of movies aren't for everyone, but I enjoyed it immensely and highly recommend it. If you are looking to mix in something different into your entertainment options, All is Lost demands consideration.

That looks cool. Though I don't see an antagonist. Morbius is supposed to be a tragic monster sorta villain. Not seeing much of that in the trailer.

They show The Vulture in the end. You think that's a Sinister Six tease?

Reportedly Matt Smith's character (who has one shot in the trailer) is someone who is injected with whatever makes Morbius Morbius and that is what makes Morbius realize that he can't be evil and must be some semblance of good of anti-hero to fight people who would be evil with the power....or some such.

I'm really only intrigued by Vulture (Michael Keaton) being in the stinger at the end. That means Morbius is at least tangentially MCU.

Yep. Throw in Venom and the rumour about Kraven... somewhere in Sony someone is clutching an old copy of the SINISTER SIX script and hastily scratching out and rewriting names.

Am kind of surprised they've completely leaked the Matt Smith 'twist' already.

Latest Spidey movie sucks hardcore. I mean S3 still takes the Shit crown but this was its runner up.

2nd marvel movie in a row I thought belonged onto the bottom of the ocean. Not at all excited for Black Widow now.

LOL

The Orange and Blue poster motif goes way deeper than this too and way further back in time. It's a thing that Hollywood marketing companies cannot seem to shake...
