Indeed. A weighty dowager countess. It's part of her character. It also was Pratchett thumbing his nose at societal norms by basically filling Ankh-Morpork with all manner of characters, shapes, races, sizes, and whathaveyou. So it had a point.

I mean as long as the actress does the role well I probably won't kvetch about it, but it was notable at the very least.

All it to be blamed on season 5 of the wire.

So the plotline about the fake murder was a bit... yeah I understand the complaints. But on the other hand... it was still an amazing scene. That quote from ep1, the bigger the lie, they more they believe. It was the theme of the entire season not just the episode. This is making me want to do a rewatch back to season 1 and see what else i've missed.

That being said this season had some hard hitting moments. Maybe not on the level of WHERE'S WALLACE? WHERE THE FUCK IS WALLACE? but dayum.

Du quan, the look of dissapointment on Mr. Prezbo when he drops dukie off after giving him money. Even worse the scene where he is shooting up. We all knew where he was gona end up, he was the new sherrod with a new bubbles. But still seeing that was hard.

On the complete opposite end of the spectrum, It was juxtaposed with Reginald finally being let up the stairs and having dinner with his sister (with a pair of clean white sneakers, a clear metaphor). I really enjoyed how his story was told by that reported and showed him for who we was, which itself is a juxtaposition with templeton.

On that note, the scene between Templeton and McNUlty was amazing. "At least i know why i lied, i don't know what you're getting out of it."

In fact, the entirety of the montage of season 5 demonstrates the juxtaposition of ALL the characters.There's something beautiful about the symmetry of the show because it goes to the core of the show's message, The system "the game", never changes. People change but the roles stay the same. All the roles we saw are a microcosm of the real thing. People trying to change the system within the rules can't, those who go outside get squashed. The whole conversation about Carcetti's #3 trying get Daniel to juke the stats again. Only for one or two quarters they say but in reality, we know it's always gona be the same.

Comissioner Valchek is a hilarious twist, bet Nerise and the Ministers really liked that one.

Now while i could drone on indefinetly about the epilogue let's go back to some of the moments in the series.

Omar, the way he got killed, I did not expect that in the least. (also the detective who caught his killer was the one who tried convict omar on the frame job) But i guess it's to illustrate how the violence in this place is sudden and without warning. Despite all he did, he didn't get a single paragraph in the paper, they even got his body tag wrong. On the obverse side, Marlo who only truly cared about his name on the street, isn't even remembered but soon his name will ring in the business circles as another pocket to empty.

Such a great show. Im looking forward to rewatching it in a few years because there's countless details I know i've missed.

If you mean 70s BSG... watch a few minutes on YouTube, you'll know pretty quickly if you want the retro entertainment. I recommend the premiere and The Gun On Ice Planet Zero.

If you mean BSG 1980, watch the Starbuck episode. That's all. The rest is atrocious.

If you mean 00s BSG, oh hell yes. Like most sf tv it has its brilliant runs and its slogs, but as a series... yeah, I think its worthwhile.
