It’s poking fun at the character, combining Urban’s natural accent and the supposed accent of the character. [...] Getting the character of Billy Butcher just right was important for the show. During the panel at NYCC 2018, Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg explained that the creator of the graphic novel, Garth Ennis, wanted to make sure the dialogue and accent was just right. He's the same actor from Arrow I think. Definitely Kiwi, and was thrown a little when they said British but it's not important at all, and doesn't damage the show in anyway.

Also, no, the actor from Arrow is Manu Bennet (who is both Kiwi and Maori).

Wow, even going on the IMDb they both look quite similar, and obviously have a similar accent, I was just guessing at Arrow but when you said the other programs I instantly recognised their character.

Was feeling down the other day, so I decided to start a re-watch of STAR TREK: TNG (since I grew up with this show, it's always been like comfort food for me), and it has not disappointed. I always skip S1 and 2 and begin with Season 3 since the first two seasons are largely dogshit...but otherwise this show just helps me feel normal when I'm feeling blue. It also helps me prepare for PICARD next year.

Season 4 of the wire.

I just feel empty, this was a hard season to watch.

They killed bodie. That death didn't hit me as hard as D'angelo but still, I liked him. Yeah he was a drug dealer but you could not help but sympathise with the man.

The election plot was great. Carcetti's election was essentially won on a lie. But beyond that, the whole sub plot between Carcetti and the budget problem I think really cemented how fundamental changes in the system only comes at great personal cost, and even if people are willing the pay the price (Bunny Colvin) it's not guaranteed.

It was also sad seeing those kids. By the time you start feeling for them, it's too late their course is set and it's only a matter of time. The only one to make it out (Namond) get out through intervention outside the system. I think the message being sent here is the education system is fucked and you need to be one heck of an outlier to make it out if you're a corner kid. Duquie is now a drug pusher, and i doubt he's got long to live. Randy i feel the most regret for, if he was in better circumstances he easily could've became a great sales person or entrepreneur. instead, he's probably gonna get dropped. That seeing in the montage where Carver just walks over and sees the tags for all those kids. Was listening to the commentary and the creator was saying how there's places in Baltimore where the only thing left of some of these kids is their tags.

ANd Bubbles man! I mean for one, Fuck Herc, between screwing over randy, his co workers and bubbles, man got off easy for the damage he's caused. And he is so completely clueless he doesn't even realize the harm he's done which is even more frustrating. But back to bubble the guy's a dope fiend, but he's trying man, he's trying and the world just keeps shitting on him. Was a nice touch of landsman to let him go and "fuck the clearance" i guess he's not completely rotten (also I love how he compared Freamon to the Huns rofl, great bit of dialogue there).

That being said there was some silver lining in all of this.

For starters Carver is now my favorite character. Every season he has grown and this season is no exception. At the end of season 3 Bunny lectures him on the distinction between Soldering and Policing. His very first scene in this season is him doing exactly that (admittedly in a funny tongue and cheek way with our boy Bodie but still). Every time he gets feedback from his bosses, he learns from it and grows. A mark of maturity but it did pay off dividends. Rather than chase kids through alleyway, he knew exactly where to go to find the kids. He knows his beat.

Prezbo seems to have grown into his teacher role. I thought hed be chewed alive but it seems he's gotten into it.

I'll be starting season 5 soon, and im told this is one of the weaker seasons, but with all this context and story, i don't think ill have an issue.

I also agree that the boys was the best show this year so far..i was literally crying at the deep scenes ..the dolphin...him getting women handled ..etc
