I missed the boat on Battlestar Galactica. Is it worth checking out?

If you mean 70s BSG... watch a few minutes on YouTube, you'll know pretty quickly if you want the retro entertainment. I recommend the premiere and The Gun On Ice Planet Zero.

If you mean BSG 1980, watch the Starbuck episode. That's all. The rest is atrocious.

If you mean 00s BSG, oh hell yes. Like most sf tv it has its brilliant runs and its slogs, but as a series... yeah, I think its worthwhile.

00s BSG. For the earlier ones, I wasn't even swimming in my dad's balls yet. So have no idea about those.

Irrelevant, now you know they exist.
And just my $0.02, but while completely unnecessary, 00s BSG is a wee bit more fun when you know where it came from.

This could go in the movies or tv thread, but Disney announced the shows available with Disney+ and its Amazeballs.

That list is MENTAL. Like would I be wrong in saying that amount puts every other streaming service to shame, even Netflix? Like the TV shows alone are multiple thousands of hours of content.

I do hope they bring back the lizard-like ancient aliens from the original series....

GARGOYLES!!!!!!!!
X MEN TAS!!!!!
X MEN EVOLUTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(...and Wolverine and the X-Men but we'll just pretend that's not there...)

...of course the crux of it for toi et moi is whether Canada will get the same content when a lot of those are licensed to other media, ie the CTV stations, Netflix.ca, Crave/HBO, etc...

I'm more annoyed by the non-binge model they are doing. All the new shows will be released weekly-episodes (like the old cable network model) and not as bingeable seasons...which takes me from "Day One Subscriber" to "I'll get around to it piecemeal in 2020 MAYBE"

I mean let's be honest, if the other major players all do the Binge model, you need to do it too otherwise you can't keep a core sub base.

Whereas the ability to catch up on a pile of shows such as REBELS where i lost the thread and still want, and to have that sheer volume of family friendly programming on hand, pretty much guarantees i'll pre-pay a year.

Counterpoint: if you nerd it hard enough they will come anyways, ie: STAR WARS: THE MANDALORIAN and THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER. As with CBS Access and Trek Disco, sure, there are thousands who will wait til the series is done and binge, but there are thousands who want that fix NOW and don't want to pirate, so they will pay.

Do you know if Disney+ will have all the same shows in every country? If so I'm very tempted.

Nope. The question's been asked and dodged, at least for Canada.

Ditto on Rebels. Was really enjoying it and got busy and never finished.

I've got a 3 and a year old, this will probably actually save me money.

They should fold Adventures in Babysitting into the MCU.

So I finished season 2 of Mindhunter and it was just as gripping and hard to watch as the first. Couple of gripes: the whole "oh no Holden has anxiety and could fall apart at any moment!" was completely left by the wayside. As was anything to do with Wendy. She sort of faded into the background and her appearance in the last episode really meant nothing and was just put there for screen time I guess?

The side plot about Tench's kid was hard to watch and I found myself hating his wife more than anything.

Otherwise, brilliant. Albert Jones as Bill Tarney was excellent and I really felt the pain of the families of the city, especially as they realised that despite finding a killer they were no closer to answers...

I'm off to research the Atlanta killings!

Ran through The Boys. Ambitious in some ways and kinda typical in others, it landed in "good but not great" territory for me. The big standout is Antony Starr/Homelander who is consistently excellent and compelling to watch. He and Elizabeth Shue (an obvious ringer, and speaking of Adventures in Babysitting!) have to do a bunch of face-acting on top of everything else and they both nail it. Not so fond of Hughie -- not the performance, just the wishy washy neophyte character, but I suppose the Boys need that contrast.

In the comics Hughie is a conspiracy theorist with a thick Scottish accent, and 'the physical appearance of Wee Hughie is based on British actor Simon Pegg, star of British sitcom Spaced and the films Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and the more recent Star Trek reboot where he appeared as Scotty.'

Ah, so they at least tried to improve on the comic by making him American instead of British.

Think I’m going to pull the trigger and stop Walking Dead franchise. I still have those 16 eps of S9 and now I have this entire batch of Fear another 16 episodes unwatched. I just don’t think I have it in me to get back into it. Plus I saw in trailers that Carol was hooking up with
Spoiler
which just pissed me off something fierce.

Idk the shit got stupid during S6. Fear was hot and cold.

People are still watching this?

To be fair the fact that the team created and funded by the CIA and mostly operates in the US includes exactly one American (as of the comics) who isnt even in charge is odd.
