  1. Lockpicking videos

    07 January 2019 - 01:20 PM

Any of you guys into Lockpicking videos?

I went down a real Lockpicking YouTube hole this weekend. I recently came across a video by the Lockpicking Lawyer, which led me to Bosnian Bill and his locklab and lots of other Lockpicking stuff. You wouldn't think watching somebody fidooe with a lock for 10 minutes would be fun but I am hooked.

These videos are great. Especially Lockpicking Lawyer and Bosnian Bill. It's real enthusiast stuff where you can tell how passionate they are and how much fun they have. Coupled with ridiculous knowledge about brands, security and Lockpicking tricks.

Here's a couple of examples but there's thousands of these videos:

  2. Favorite movies and TV shows of 2018

    24 December 2018 - 11:16 AM

What were your favorite films and TV shows this year? Doesn't have to be exclusive to stuff released in 2018. Doesn't have to be a top 10 list. Just share what you enjoyed this year and what stands out.

I mostly watch YouTube now a days so I have no horse in this race.
  3. Favorite games of 2018

    24 December 2018 - 10:45 AM

I completely forgot to make some of these threads this year

What were your favorite games in 2018?

Doesn't have to be a game released in 2018, doesn't have to be a top ten list. Share what you enjoyed and what stood out to you.

God of War - I think this might be one of the best games I've ever played. The quality of this games design and writing is first class. Loved the reinterpretation of Kratos.

Super Mario Odyssey - this might also be one of the best games I've played. It's pure gameplay excellence. A ridiculously well made platformer.

Destiny 2 Forsaken- Destiny 2 wasn't even a blip on my radar, I was actually focused on Spider-Man and Tomb Raider but then I played the free PS+ version and I was hooked. I don't know how many hours I put into this. Probably hundreds. It's one of the best shooters I've ever played.

Spider-Man - I was very cold this game before playing it. I felt the gameplay footage and the character's seemed a step back, however once I got into the swing of things (see what I did there?) I fell in love with Spider-Man. This is a amazing open world game and a spectacular super hero experience. I hope they make a dozen of these games.

Wolfenstein 2 - this game felt a bit like it was treading water before a third finale but it's a hell of a shooter and it has some of the craziest story moments I've ever seen in a game.

COD: WW2 - I didn't expect to like this game but both the campaign and multiplayer was great fun. I think I spent 80% of this game playing Shipment and murdering people with shotguns.

Detroit Become Human - haven't finished this yet but this is the best game yet from David Cage and Quantic Dreams. I love the unique way they turn an adventure game type of choose your own story, into a tense and captivating game.

Ratchet and Clank 2016 - really good remake of original R&C. As always it's the guns and upgrades that drive there games and it's as good as it's ever been.

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider - playing a Dishonored game where you don't have to worry about chaos is fun. I murdered sooo many people in this game.

Horizon: Zero Dawn - I'm not quite as hot on this game as other people on the forum but it's a very good and unique open world game. The story was a bit meh in my opinion but it sure went places.

The naughty list. Games that disappointed me.

Far Cry 5 - I loved 3 and 4 but 5 just didn't click. Bad story, forced copy paste story chapters, uninteresting characters, fewer weapons, boring missions.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider - the gameplay and exploration is still solid but the writing took a nosedive in this one. As the conclusion to the trilogy about Crofts origin, this was very disappointing.

Red Dead Redemption 2 - yeah, I know it's pretty crazy placing this game down here, but the more I played it, and more and more and more I played, it started to grate on me. The ridiculous travel distances, the inconvenient fast travel system, the lacking trapper shops, the tired Rockstar formula in general. What really soured me on the game was the story. It's not really a badly told story but it's very dissatisfying.

It's a very well made game but it's just not for me.
  4. Merry Christmas!

    24 December 2018 - 09:08 AM

    Merry Christmas everyone!

What are you doing for Christmas?

I'm celebrating Christmas with my Stepmom and Stepbrother. I'm already filled to bursting with Christmas treats
  5. Identity Politics

    20 November 2018 - 01:39 PM

I won't be near a proper computer before Thursday or Friday, so I won't attempt a rebutal with sources right now. I'll just add a few comments.

    1. I wasn't attempting to persuade anyone, I was just repeating a lot of the debate we already had in the Feminist frequency thread. Where I have posted sources.

    2. Never said Quinn wasn't doxxed. I said she's made fake doxxing reports.

    3. I am not against feminists, I am against abusing identity politics for the sake of personal profit and petty outrage.

I don't consider Denmark a feminist country. I consider us Post-feminist. Do we have some wage inequalities? Jobdistribution imbalances? Certain cultural artifacts from a more male-dominated age? Sure.

But a. I am not sure many of these arent natural and unavoidable for socio-economic/biological reasons, nor am I sure they're the problem we make of them. Women have a strong presence in Danish politics and on the job market.

    B. Denmark is incredibly blessed in terms of rights and choices. Women get long maternity leaves, their various aches and ills that men aren't afflicted by, are covered by employment rights, there are no direct cultural norms or taboos that oppress or subjugate women in any way - well, there's the promiscuity thing but again I think that's partially biological and also Danish culture is a lot more slutty than other places.

I honestly believe that the identity politic debate has little to do in Denmark. I think it's another symptom of America's dominant cultural outrage export. We absorb American culture and norms through our media and mistakingly think that their problems are our problems, when in reality everything is mostly fine and everything is going to be okay.

Only, to get this debate back into politics, it won't be okay eventually because there's a knock back pendulum effect happening in all of Europe, just like the USA. The more the left push for political correctness, the harder the right hits back. The more shrill the identity debate becomes the more shitty the right becomes.

I am not saying that there isn't real gender based issues out there but a hell of a lot of the stuff I see in the media is fluffy bullshit complaints made by people who get off on outrage.

But hey, that's just my cynically privileged perspective.

I think you need therapy and probably some kind of medical treatment, Mal. How boring is your daily existence that you find it imperative to jump on this forum every few weeks and pick a fight with people?
