I got a few
1) We haven't seen the Hounds of Light yet...have we?
2) I think Quick Ben is an Elder God deep down somewhere...there is just so much mystery and power that convieniently keeps appearing when he needs it..yet he is still vulnerable.
3) Karsa, now god of the Toblakai, creates their own warren of magic which is in fact a negation of all magic...this is some sort of wierd theory...but their magic is "non-magic" i guess?
4) Tehol will die sacrificing himself for Bugg (I just see it as ultimate irony)
5) The Crippled God is the God of all Gods and he was pulled back from where he was and now desires to ruin everything and start over again
(Note I am extremely bored at work right now and delirious)

Heh... as a victim of similar delusion previously, I feel it is my duty to inform you, that SE specifically said that "There are no Hounds of Light". The concept is made up by fans, who mistake the pet name given to the Degaroth (Hounds of Darkness) by Ossric into an actual title. The only real Hounds belong to Shadow.
You should expand on numbers 4 and 5; 2 and 3 have been brought up before--number 2 usually in connection with the missing EG Grizzin Farl.

Nice list Xander...
1) I'm sure I read somewhere that SE confirmed there wasn't Hounds of Light.
2) Me too! I've got some crazy theories regarding Grizzen Farl/Set'Alhad Crool in one of threads, I'll go dig up the link when I get home from work
3) Hmmm you just made me think of something interesting relating to the toblaki "personal" warren thing. I'll think more and possbily post later with my crazy theory. I don't think it's a negation of magic. I think through sheer force of will over time they create a mini warren of personal aspected power around them, unknowingly drained from their fallen enemies and the environment around them, it becomes their personal space as it were, and when they get their fight on or their emotions up it unveils and overlaps physical space around their body, intangible to the physical eye, it's a barrier none the less to any sorcerous action against the toblaki.
4) That would be tragic, I just had a sudden thought of one of Mael's nasty priests, the jhistals or whoever sacrificing Tehol on an altar to Mael as some misguided offering they think will earn his favour for whatever reason. Mael then becomes most vexed.
5) I'm not too sure about this one, why would the god of gods be a fertility/love/seduction god? Hmmm although the CG does go on about pathetic humans and mortals in MoI IIRC so maybe he had non-human worshippers originally. But then what about the apparantly human souls in the jade giants...talk about shooting myself in the foot. I'll have to dig up the quote again, it was interesting food for thought.
I've also got this nagging thought that the First Empire may have planted colonies not only on the Malaz world but in other warrens as well back in the dim dark days...alot of them would have been wiped out over time and from demon invasions but theoretically some of them off the more travelled beaten track could have survived till modern times. Maybe he was one of the Gods of a far realm, metaphysically quite distant away.

Well I think we can all agree that Tehol as Emperor is absurd...but think about it...Mael has protected Tehol for so long...something so shocking and out of character for Tehol...sacrifice himself for an Elder God...but more...a friend...I could totally just see it
and about the Crippled God...If he is soooooooo powerful it takes all these gods/ascendants to tame him...doesn't that mean he is superior when whole? I mean...there has to be a reason they're all scared of him...or most of them

All right - QB is definitely an Elder God.
Also, as we have seen, it invariably takes many powerful people to take down one (semi-powerful to powerful) person.
Other than that, I have any 'crazy theories', although I like some of the ones in this thread......
You're right, Tehol sacrificing himself for Bugg would be tragic, and somehow ironic....

Something occured to me from this (plus rep).
QB's EG alter ego (when he's not a mild mannered reporter for the daily planet) has been observing the whole "new young gods totally pwn their elders" and has been lying in wait as a mortal to get the hang of these new rules/warrens/sappers that seem to be bringing down the pantheon.
Hmm, doesn't seem so crazy...

Why would one of the Elder God's be part of the pursuit across of Raruku randomly, and decide to let QB's body assimilate them?
There are reasons, but I'm wondering your reasons. It just appears convenient, it's clever but not probable...but then again this is the crazy theory thread.

Hmm here's something I was just thinking about. Has anyone considered the potential divinatory power of the collected mages etc that make up QB's souls. I think that the entire empowering of QB and the "forging" as it were in the furnace of raraku was necessary to facilitate the easy melding of all the souls. Who's to say they didn't cast the DoD cards in their camp for the first night and find out that QB had some Destiny that he must fulfil involving the ultimate solution to the crippled god issue. He's (CG) got the rest of the divine pantheon up in arms, who's to say an elder god wouldn't sacrifice his physical shell for the purposes of saving the world? We know from Mael's example that not all EG's are bad people. A few hours of confab and arguments later (they are mages after all), during which set'ahlad reveals his secret knowledge of soulshifting and they're on the move with the Plan. a few weeks later we have a newly empowered QB ready to go bright-eyed into his forseen fate. YMMV on the times elapsed I mentioned, I am far from my books at the moment, one of my friends just loaned them.

Well the soulshifting thing was referred to as "ancient knowledge" in GotM and I always thought it a bit queer that QB just kind of figured it out. If it is actually elder knowledge, the QB = elder god theory could hold water. I like that idea a lot actually.
Hedge in RG also asks QB at one point "what have you got hiding inside you" or something like that. Hedge, being a BB, knows what QB is...12 mage souls residing in one. I got the impression from hedge's question that he's wondering what else is inside QB.

We have enough information with EG's getting involved with mortal affairs to say it was possible that one of the EG's could of been involved with the chase through Raruku, but it still seems a bit queer.
Did we ever find out why QB was in that chase, I can't rememeber at the moment. We need to find out at some point.

I thought he was on the opposite team and the BBs were chasing him and his mage cadre down. There were other wizards running with QB (the original) and as they died he sucked up their souls one by one on the run. The BBs finally ran him down in the desert and then he gave up and joined them. Then there was some crap about how the run through the desert forged the BBs into something special or ascended them somehow
Don't remember the last bit about the BBs forging thing, but SE definitely did mention the part about the chase with QB.

Actually the whole chase was a revenge (?) plot on the part of Kalam and QB. They were originally assassin and mage for one of the seven falah'dan (sp?) that the Empire overthrew. QB took a mage cadre and led the BBs off on a merry chase into Raraku, with Kalam coming along with the BBs pretending to 'track' him. Their idea was that Raraku would kill the BBs for them, and then they would be free to go their own way. I don't know if the scheme included the other mages dying and QB sucking their souls (may've been incidental/ a twisted sort of mercy on QB's part)
But Whiskeyjack was wise to their schemes all along. The forging thing refers to the BBs taking some serious hardship and beating QB/ K's expectations with their endurance and tenacity. So much so that they were both proud to join their ranks when the BBs finally caught up with QB

nice theory, makes a lot of sense, and explains why QB and Kalam came to the empire, which i had been wondering about... reps:)

"Some crap?" That's quite a way to describe a fairly pivotal part of the BB's history.

lol...yep. I purposely chose those extremely descriptive words so that you'd really have a sense of the magnitude of bb history.
