The Tyrant of Darujhistan was a Toblakai. The Tyrant's return is actually all about Karsa Orlong, who will then lead a combined army of Teblor and Seguleh. Could an army like that ever be beaten? If it happens, I bet they'll fight the KCCM hordes that are bound to turn up sooner or later.

That's pretty damn crazy.. I like it, but there are a lot of geographical constraints to that...

The Tyrants of Darujhistan were a line of kings, well within the realm of written history. Crokus was writing a book about them. I think it would've been mentioned if they were superhuman giant Toblakai. Plus it doesn't make much sense to talk of a single Tyrant, as three were mentioned by name in GotM and there were no doubt more.

And yet the Seguleh Second says, about the T'orrud Cabal: "Crouching low, lest the Tyrant returns, as one day he must!". Sounds like just the one tyrant from that.

i always thought that the tyrants being refered to were the jaghut ones. raest being the tyrant of darujhistan who would one day return. well i guess he was the tyrant of w.e was around before darujhistan since his rumored barrow created the city

Ardata = Apsalar (the Imass god one)
Evidence? A tiny bit. Page 40 of the TPB of Bonehunters
And how does Mogora heal Mappo later? She calls on the power of the moon, even seeming to bring it closer to the planet. Cotillion says the moon's light has been stolen, and later says Mogora is one of Ardata's creatures.
So either Ardata or Mogora herself is Apsalar. That's my theory and I'm sticking by it.

hmmm, this is something that hit me today
Toc the Elder = Squint Coltaineslayer
Toc is described as an awesome archer (in GotM, I believe) and when he has that convo with Apsalar in tBH he seems far too knowledgeable for the common soldier..
Oh yeah, also, proof that Toc the younger is coming back:
He has to getback to the Empire, in orsder to have his poems published, so that they can later be included into the MBotF....

The man then said something, and the white-faced woman glanced away, eyes thinning. Then her gaze settled on the satchel Torrent still held, dangling from a strap, in his left hand. She pointed down at it.
'What do you carry?'
The Awl blinked, then looked down at the leather bag. Shrugging, he tossed it aside. 'Scribblings,' he said. 'He painted many words, like a woman. But he was not the coward I thought. He was not.'
'Scribblings?'
Torrent found that there were tears on his cheeks. He wiped them away. 'The horse-warrior,' he said. 'The Mezla.'

Her sneer was decidedly unpleasant. 'Think you I did not hear the summons?'
'Made by whom? Do you know, Kilava?'
'No, nor do I care. I shall not attend.'
Tool cocked his head. 'Then why are you here?'
'That is my business.'
She seeks... redress. The realization flooded Toc's mind, and he knew that the knowledge was not his, but an Elder God's. Who now spoke directly, in a voice that trickled like sand into the Malazan's thoughts. To right an old wrong, heal an old scar. You shall cross paths again. It is, however, of little consequence. It is the final meeting that concerns me, and that will be years away in all likelihood. Ah, but I reveal unworthy impatience. Mortal, the children of the Pannion Seer are suffering. You must find a way to release them.

I got the feeling that Toc was dead for real this time. He went through the gate and everything. If he does come back though he should get the errants body - its only got one eye right.
Flying Monkeys definitely win.

well... Ionno, Baudin came back.
And we are told that they never found Toc's body (sure, it's cause it was unfaced, but still)....
My point is: Toc is one one of my favourite characters, just b/c of him I didn't join the "Wtf was Redmask's story arc for?" crowd... and I want to see more of him

I thought Toc didn't go through the gate because the wolves still claim him right?

No he is Hoods. His father sold/gave Tocs soul to Hood long before the Wolves chose him.
The question people wonder about is whether SoulTocs missing eye means that the wolves will be able to resummon him at some point.

interesting....I think we'll see him again...though it seems he is cursed to live...make progress...die...and cycle again.
Tool is such a bad ass he'd probably go rampaging through Hood's gate and bring him back

My Crazy theory of the week- The Elder Gods are gonna side with the Errant, except for Mael, and war against the new ones... The CG is gonna save everyone by destroying magic.

Well, i dunno if having your soul forsworn to Hood automatically qualifies you for a spot on the beaches of the tropical Afterlife... my gues is that b/c Toc suffered so much, he'll be back to do something momentous and get himself a happy resting place, and in hte end his soul will be free to roam the Mhybe's dream realm (wolves' realm) for all eternity...

His soul is still sworn to Hood, some serious negotiations are needed to make Hood relinquish such a claim. Perhaps if Hood got Toc the Elders soul instead but it sounds like ElderToc and Hood are good friends.
I really hope they let him stay dead and I'll repeat what I wrote in the Toc is dead thread. Why would they reawaken him? He's nothing special, sure he has exploding arrows, but that's about it. He had no positions of note, no special power needed, no alliances with gods.
He's just a dead mortal who went through a lot of shit.

Well, he was Mortal Sword for a reason. And when he comes back (which he will), Tool, and by default the Barghast, will probably follow him to the Abyss itself. By your logic, Baudin coming back makes little sense as well.
As for special powers, the only thing I can think of is how he found Redmask to be the KCCM Mortal Sword just by looking at him. Being a Mortal Sword probably gives him some 'powers' I guess.
