France really messed up that game completely. And they need to swap Barthez - or Mr. Flappy, as the French would say - REALLY soon. Mind you, if Korea had played like their last ten minutes from the start, they'd have probably won.
And Zidane got his second yellow - if France don't go through, you just saw his last international game.

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Australia really lacked a quality striker up front, that final touch was all we needed. Gave Brazil a bloody good scare!
Shows how when Brazil meet a side with good strength up front they might have real problems - rather dodgy at the back, but their keeper is good.
Has anyone else noticed that the new ball seems to float a lot more than the old? Everyone seems to be missing way over the top, or way to the side. Kind of like a ping pong ball.
Ah well - Guus will have our lads focussed on beating Croatia now, and I think they're a bloody good chance given their showing so far.
Cheers,
La Sombra, despondent, but still hopeful.

Aah disappointing , Barthez is not so bad -but we do not like him that's the point- but , I dunno ... I think we'll be very lucky if we are qualified for the second turn , we won't go far I'm afraid , it was perhaps last night the last match of Zidane yes , it would be sad to finish like that . However , I was happy to see my favorite player Titi Henry

I don't like Brazil and they weren't very convinced yesterday , I would not like that they win this year . Aussies were good and they didn't deserve this 2-0 . I'm going to watch tonight the Spanish team

I got given Ghana in a sweepstake I'm doing. I had wanted them beforehand, so I was happy. And now, given their fantastic display against the Czech Republic, they even have a brilliant chance of qualifying for the second round, hopefully at the expense of the Italians. Come on Ghana!!!
Great result for South Korea yesterday too, considering they didn't register a shot until the 80th minute.

It's a 5am kickoff for the Aust vs Croatia game. I have an important interview at 8:30am...screw it, if they can't accept watching Australia play in the FIFA World Cup as a good excuse to be hungover and near catatonic then I don't want to go to that TAFE!

I've already "asked" work if it's OK for me to come in a bit late on Friday morning, and received the OK. I think 3 other guys did the same thing.
It's not every day Australia is in the World Cup finals, and most of us (and employers) realise that and compensate appropriately.
Come on Aussies!!!
Cheers,

Woulda been the best day of my week even without the game, with the game, it could be the best day of my year. Of course that is dependant on the difficulty of the exam and the result of the game

Italy and Ghana are through. Silly Czech defender getting himself redcarded, rubbish penalty decision on the half time mark against US. Still, could be worse.

I'm really pleased that Ghana came through, even though they got lucky with the penalty decision (alright so outside the box I can see that being given as a freekick...but it's not really a penalty offense). It's a shame Michael Essien will miss the Brazil game (I'm assuming that they will play Brazil), because I don't think they will be able to mount as strong a challenge without him. We will see if Brazil improve against Japan this evening, but I think a full strength Ghana team would pose Brazil a lot of problems on current form and could even beat them...
I was thinking Czech Republic would be in the semis to start off with...now I guess it will be Italy.

Don't look now, but I think there's something weird attached to the bottom of my posts.

But the one thing about Brazil, and always has been their rep is that they get STRONGER as the tournament moves on. Each round they improve and show why they are the champs.
But the Czecks had a sour performance, but I cant blame them since both starting strikers missed almost the entire tournament due to injury. I had them winning the WC actually
It now looks as if Italy, Brazil, or Argentina will win. Being as Brazil and Argentina wont play each other untill the final round its a good possibility.

Just you watch out for the might of Ghana. They are unstoppable this year!

Looks like Brazil have found second gear at last. And without Essien I dont think Ghana have much chance against them.
Australia-Italy seems like a good one and if they play to their best the Aussies could cause an upset. Long as Graham Poll doesnt referee.
