He's Big! He's Red! His feet stick out the bed! He's Peter Crouch! He's Peter Crouch!!!
Heavily frustrating match. Well played Trinidad and Tobago though, class defending, made England look a tad ordinary. Until Sven made some decent substitutions for once. O_O Too many route one balls played in the first half. But as soon as Downing, Lennon and Rooney came on different story. Ball was played into the feet, alot more zippy and eventually broke up the defence of T&T so Crouch could work the magic. Then Gerrards goal was class. Kaka eat your heart out. =P Left foot from outside the box. Have it! :cool:
I was running down the street in my socks to the garage in celebration! xD

@Stian: sadly, due to taking the truck drivers license, I haven't seen any of their matches. Are they looking to challenge anyone serious once the cup starts?
And thank you lord for giving Sweden that late goal! I'd rather have them go on than boring, boring England. I actually cursed at Crouch and Gerrard last night. Never thought that day would come!

Some of the England passing was sloppy and some of those long shots well off target.
I really enjoyed watching Lenon playing, he was outstanding. First time I've really seen him playing I think.

Boring boring England. In all fairness if they don't pick up their game it doesn't matter if they face Germany or Ecuador. They'll get a hidin'. I feel sorry for anyone that put money on them to win the World Cup. And as for the World Cup itself, the best game i've seen so far is Italy and Ghana and that was only seventy minutes of good high tempo footy. When is all the action gonna start, don't get me wrong theres been some good goals and good passages of play but overall its bee a fairly mediocre WC so far. 90' and 94' were the best i've seen so far in my lifetime.

@Brynjipoo
Well, I dunno yes, but Edison Mendes looks like a very good player, and all their strikers are decent, even the subs. The real test will obviously be against Germany - that should be a very good match, hopefully.
@Rake
I've been trying to tell anyone who'll listen for the whole season, Lennon is class. True class, and I'm not at all suprised he got picked ahead of "Gimme money money money Wright-Phillips". He needs to work on his final ball a bit, but he has blistering pace, and with some decent runs in and around the box by Rooney, Owen, Crouch, Lampard, Gerrard et al, he'd be able to provide a hat-full of goals:)
I'm not too concerned about England's form - we play up to the level of the opposition mostly. Then again, I think we leave ourselves exposed too much at the back, which we won't be able to afford against either Germany or Ecuador.

@Asandir: can't remember much of either one of those World Cups (except Norway beating Brazile), but this one is at least a lot better than the recent tournaments.

what really anoys me here -UK- is this Wayn Rooney (spelling?) fetish people seem to have. The media here is talking as if he was the main, no, the only reason for England's victory, when in fact he had nothing to do with it at all.
Rooney came onto the field and some 10-20 min later England scored a goal. A goal which Rooney did not help along at all. Obviously it was Rooney's presence that ensured it. Wasn't excellent play by beckham, nor a perfect hit by Crouch. No, it was Rooney.
Jeez, no wonder he is spoken of as a new messiah when every single victory is heaped onto his shoulders and his shoulders alone.

Well, either the England team have been seduced by the hype themselves, taking Owen off helped them pick up the pace, or Lennon made much more impact
Guess which I believe?

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I hope the England team were watching Argentina just now. That was sex in football form. Especially the second goal.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Argentina has to be the most effective team in the world; three chanses and three goals. And yes, that second goal was orgasmic.

And they still give England and Argentina equal odds on lifting the Cup... *shakes head*

Six - nil. Didn't Serbia top their qualifying group?
And yes, Cambiasso's goal was sensational. I'm told nine of the ten outfield players had a touch on it. They will be showing replays of it for years to come.

Agreed, that second goal was the definition of "slick and stylish". Best goal of the cup so far by a long way.
@Broody
England guilty of letting the opposition in the back door? Sounds like way too much public schooling ...
Cheers,
La Sombra, always watches his six

Have to now revise my opinion of the US after watching their match. Most entertaining, and they showed some good balls defending against Italy with 9 men, bloody good match.

SAVED from elimination! Now I can relax and focus on the NBA finals. GO DALLAS MAVERICKS!!!!!
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

@longhorn: USA isn't out yet. If they beat Ghana in the last match and The Czech Republic beats Italy, then USA goes on through. Highly doubtful as they'll have to make do without a lot of their first team players (right?), but it might happen.

We may not have won but I am comforted by the fact that Ronaldo played crap! It was like watching one of the Three Stooges play - ball? what ball?
I still think it was a good game, would have preferred to loose by one goal, not two but hey! as long as we draw and/or beat Croatia we still advance. C'mon Aussie! C'mon!
