About the criticism of why didn't Cersei just wipe out Dany, Tyrion, et. al. - isn't there a 'procedural' aspect to battle/war called 'parley' and to just outright attack your opponent when terms were being discussed would be bad form. Like bad form in that it would be damaging to any hope for lasting peace, trust and goodwill you hope to leverage with the common populace when victory has been achieved?

If they had done more foreshadowing that the night king, Lord of light etc are maybe powerful sorcerers and not gods maybe this ending would be possible. I have never bought into the idea that GRRM martin is moving into a direction where the gods are real and that any of them are forces for good. Otheriwse if this happens ill be joining a strike team to capture GRRM and force him to complete his books so we can eye bleach this horror.

At those velocities, wouldn't the bolts simply ... vaporise? But yeah, sounds like the writers truly Lost The Plot, so to speak.
You must must must maintain consistency within your milieu. And FFS when writers disregard "common" sense time after time in order to railroad take the plot from A to B, they're either lazy, incompetent or contemptuous of the audience. Or all three.

Sad when things go that way. When even kids and laypeople can poke holes in your plot logic, and more than once, you know you've fucked up.

And BSG had had far more setup for the concept of direct divine intervention, something that had been in the fabric of the show really from the start (which is why I was okay with it). Whereas basically the opposite is true here.

Yes, that's certainly fair, although I still didn't much care for it. It would certainly come off a hell of a lot worse if Thrones were to try it now.

Same. I heard it started so well and deteriorated to something terrible.

My theory is that at least one person in this forum will comment or at least think that the "Jon wakes in London" theory is better than whatever the actual ending turns out to be...
