Perhaps Debenhams then. Like John Lewis but your money might go a tiny bit further.

Went to the tower of London, tower Bridge, London bridge and st Paul's today. Was a good day.

I'm annoyed to say this but London seems to win over new york hands down. The tube is Cleaner, the streets are cleaner, the city more beautiful and easier to walk.

Also I'm more than slightly annoyed to see that food in London is is about the same or cheaper than Johannesburg. That does not make sense. Chocolate is so cheap here its disgusting.

London is insanely expensive compared to the rest of the UK. So much so that people working in London actually get an additional bonus to compensate for the higher living costs.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

I can get a kg of rump at a super market in sa for 5 pounds. Eat a 300g fillet at a good steakhouse for ten pounds in sa. Your meat is sub par as well.

That said things like pre-made sandwiches in the supermarket cost the same. Desserts like puddings and cheesecakes are the same. Chocolate bars are more expensive by about almost half but chocolate slabs, creme eggs, anything Cadbury really are less than half price compared to sa.

10 pounds or more for Burger at a pub though is highway robbery

I think you'd get a bit of a shock if you came up North, certainly on the eating out side of things. Just about everyone from anywhere else in the UK winces immediately upon arriving in London and seeing prices on menus ;)

Plus the people are a lot friendlier up north. Londoners generally are a narky bunch of gimboids.

I was referring to the niblick who told Cause he's vegan because London meat prices. One of the oddest justifications I've ever seen for a personal choice.

Yeah he said it was a joke and asked. Me. If I believed him. So I said no. Though he has been quite helpful. My friend and him seem to fight a lot. From Low key stuff. To serious. Seems to be normal. Freaked me out when they would disappear for a while to talk in whispers (I figured they were talking about me) but seems they are trying to not fight in front of me.

For context: The house I'm mortgaging for 87.5k would cost about 250k in London. Probably more, actually.

That's $AU161,000 or about a third of the national average. You only get those prices way, waaaaaay out in the back of beyond. Thanks to our greed driven property bubble that has made our baby boomers rich and put the hope of a home of our own out of the reach of the successive generations (those of us who earn less than $100,000). For reference I'm on about $73k. National average is around $85k.

So what sort of place is it, if I may ask?
