So we assume that the remnants of the Empire are hunting for a creature of Yoda’s race to be exterminated / studied....I assume because Yoda was one of the longest lived and well known JEDI masters....holy shit....and It APPEARS we will be getting some sort of Lone Wolf and Cub with Mando and Yoda baby trying to survive being hunted?!

Wow! I had heard earlier today that the end of the episode would have you on the edge of your seat, dying for the next one and that was very accurate! Did not see that coming.

I agree with both of your assessments based on what we've been given. You should've heard the sound that came out of my wife at the reveal! Lot of questions to ask: Is he/she a known force user or just the same race as Yoda? Can't possibly be a descendant, right?! And yes, they certainly make it look like the Mando may not be opposed to a connection. After doing a nice job of convincing us he is aloof but also showing his flashbacks and revealing he was a foundling.

This show may be worth putting up with the weekly episode release after all. Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni.

Wanted more SW after it was over so we threw on Rebels Ep 1. God I love that show and its characters!

I actually threw on Mando Ep 1 again after and watched over again. Will probably throw on REBELS myself for a rewatch before bed. Good day to be a Star Wars fan!

I have a feeling that since the only two of Yoda’s species we’ve seen in-universe have both been really powerful JEDI Masters (Yaddle was on the Council before dying between TPM and AOTC), tha this is why multiple factions appear to be hunting it....either on the assumption or knowledge that said species are very force sensitive. Super cool stuff regardless!

Also note that IG-11 and The Mando were sent by different factions, as Mando was told to bring it alive if possible..,,while IG-11’s mission was 100% kill it. So at least two factions wanted it, and the third guarding it should be taken into account.

Can’t wait for the rest of the cast to get introduced....Gina Carano, Ming Na Wen, Giancarlo ect...and can’t wait to get the LEGO version of the Razorcrest.

What was obvious was the humor, timing and passion from both Filoni and Favreau.

All the little details; like the stairwell and music lifted from Jabbas palace, the droids, weapons, and mostly THAT armor. So much that made a second viewing necessary, like immediately! Even the end credits look awesome.

Live Action Rebels - what could be better?

(Also really nice to see footage online of George Lucas on set with Filoni.)

Since Disney SW is going ALL in on Streaming, I'd put good odds on that Yoda creature revelation being important in future film storylines...

If you've listened to the Favreau and Filoni question panel, they were both very much of a mind that this would be a set number of seasons, with an end goal in mind from the start - not a 'run and run until interest wanes' type of show. Like how Filoni handled Rebels after Clone Wars got cancelled early.

Their long game, including the Obi Wan series, could tie into both Solo and Rebels. Certain Rebels arcs weren't resolved, and there is already a crossover with Solo and CWs.

It was just so, so satisfying to see Filoni and Favreaus names together on the credits.

Honestly, these two creatives are two of my all time favourite and respected ones, so I'm in like flynn for the long haul here.

I agree. I'm trying to recall (with my sieve of a memory) weren't there some episodes toward the end of the CW that involved Yoda on an individual "journey" of some kind? Was there any kind of clue of anything in that? I barely remember that arc.

BTW, can you imagine if the Mando just happened to bump into another Mandalorian, and it happened to be Sabine?? With or without Ahsoka and searching for Ezra?? Or if even Ezra or Thrawn just get mentioned in passing at some point, let alone appear?

As to the youngling, I think it stands to reason its likely a force user. However, the new trilogy movies have so far made no mention of a Yoda-race force user. TFA is approximately 30 years after RotJ, correct? Unless the Mando's mission becomes secreting the youngling away, shouldn't we maybe have gotten a whisper? Yes, this universe is vast but I wouldn't expect they would pass that up if it had been known it was coming in this show. Idk, there are so many excellent things that could be lain out if the right minds get the chance...

I can see that, but you know what? Lining up a new show with the past we know about Fett, and the fact that he's not REALLY a Mando at all but an unaltered clone of a dissident Mando born on Concord Dawn...and all the other stuff would be...trite I think....but this is a nice open canvas with a linking "look" that let's us basically make a Fett character that is more than just set dressing. If that makes sense?

The symbol on Dr. Pershing's arm in Mando Ep 1 [the dude with Werner Herzog seeking the "alive" bounty of the Yoda baby]....appears in the Saga....on Kamino....on Clones (in both TCW and in ATOC.

So this means that Pershing and the Imperial remnant wants to CLONE this creature...and perhaps Herzog says to kill it if you can't get it alive becuase it's dangerous to leave such a strong force sensitive alive.
