Clone Wars is a bit different. They're in a bit of an odd order, there are some that arent as good as the rest; but there are also a number of arcs that are just.. essential. Anakin gets so much character development that it eclipses the movies. And makes it more believable that he would turn when he does in RotS. And we get Ahsoka. Who becomes one of the best characters in SW imo. She's my favourite anyway.

I'd say watch all of them. If you hit a Jar Jar or droid ep that seems slower, or you're not getting into it, skip to the next, and find the good ones.
(Although some Artoo ones are great)

It's interesting that the Mandalorian is getting so much praise when it essentially Rebels live-action. It shows how many people have disregarded the shows previously, and they're only now going to get the attention they deserve.

To assist: if the CLONE WARS episode or arc focuses on: droids, Padme, or Jar Jar, you can cheerfully skip it and be confident you are missing none of the bigger story.

This Yoda baby is 50 years old and 50 years back from the time its introduced in the Mandalorian, something else momentous occurred: Anakin Skywalker's immaculate birth. The light side rises to meet the dark...? I don't know if that timing is exactly right but it certainly would make sense. There was also reference to a Darth Vader comic series (I think?) that apparently has confirmed that Palpatine manipulated the force and was responsible for Anakin's immaculate conception. Which I guess could be construed as him (Anakin) being born with a dark side influence?

Yep, corrected. REBELS had very few 'filler' eps and even those tended to quality.

I watched the Clone Wars movie and the first ep. No complaints, I expected this series to be a bit kiddy. I don't think my completionist mind will allow me to skip episodes, but I might as well say I'm all-in on TCW (maybe even rewatch the prequels, what can I say) and then Rebels, even if TCW has bad eps here and there. My wife likes a lot of the same stuff, but not Star Wars, yet even she likes this.

Whenever I put Star Wars on, she's always like...not Star Trek. Just to piss me off. But when the episode went off she muttered, what it's over already? I had to smile.

It was a super nice surprise to see them rally for Mando. I don't know if they're remotely noble in any way other than having a religion/code and a beef with the Empire, as you say -- Mando may still be exceptional in his actions re: the bounty -- but nevertheless, thrilling scene.

The big beefy one, the one who salutes him at the end...is listed in the credits as Paz Vizsla, aka descendant of Pre Vizsla of Clan Vizsla (voiced by Favreau in fact; as I believe Paz is in this episode), leader of the Death Watch Commandos, and descended from the original first (and possibly only?) Jedi Mandalorian who owned and wielded the Darksaber...Tarre Vizsla. Clan Vizsla is NOTORIOUSLY tribe-devoted.

Sidenote: You will learn WAY more about all this as you watch TCW and REBELS, so I won't talk more about it here.

But yeah, there is a nobility and a ruleset to the warrior caste the Mandalorians on this show who have been scattered after their home was destroyed...I feel like their community of culture stands above any devotion to the BH guild or to the money therein...he is a Mando, they are Mando...that is more important than anything else I think to them, which is why they stood up for him. Also note that he keeps donating the excess Beskar to the younger orphaned Mando's, which probably goes a long way to helping him with his people.

It is the way.

Clearly I don't have much grasp yet on what behaviors are Mando (the character)-specific -- for instance his affinity for orphans/foundlings -- and therefore may be considered quirks, vs. what is culture-specific across Mandalorians (clearly they all care for foundlings or there'd be nothing to donate to), vs. bounty hunter guild culture. The fact that those two latter things don't always overlap is already thrilling. I'm looking forward to learning more, from this show and the cartoons.

Also, just heard on the radio this morning that Hasbro will NOT have any merchandise of you-know-who out in time for Christmas. This seems like a colossal F up by Disney/Hasbro as I've heard multiple grown men my age that want a plush one, let alone every girl and woman that has seen the show. This could easily have been the biggest in-demand gift this season and they've missed the boat. Someone did mention that perhaps they had cold feet about it since they expected the porgs (I believe that's what they're called, the annoying bug eyed guinea pigs from TLJ) to be a hit and they fell quite flat.

From what I can tell it's the Siege of Mandalore (the one that happened around Darth Maul ruling the planet by proxy puppet prime minister) that is what is referenced as the flashbacks that orphaned Mando and turned the other Mandalorians from their own world winch descend into chaos after this and then Galactic Imperial control. The Super Battle Droids and CiS Gunships are a good indicator of this as well....though we've yet to see the portion of the conflict that included the separatists, but it makes sense.

I also expect that since the Siege was always the planned story arc content for the final season of TCW, that it's intentionally referenced on MANDALORIAN, so that in February when TCW S7 drops, we will get that fleshed out back story of the event, and I expect to see Mando as a child too...I've also heard whispers of Ewan guest starring on MANDO in the second to last ep in a longer flashback that shows he was one of the people who helped liberate the Mandalorian families under siege (prior to being called away with Anakin to rescue Chancellor Palpatine from General Grievous's ship; AKA the opening scene of ROTS), which will tie into his standalone show.

And to be fair, marketing / toy leaks are the absolute WORST leakiest parts of any film promotion, so it 100% would have spoiled the reveal weeks before it debuted, so I mean....I get it.
