Damn, apparently I missed Chopper!
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

So did I, both times. Did catch Ghost on the second viewing. It's there for all of 2 seconds.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Loved it! Agree with pretty much everything that has been said so far.
Favourite characters were Snarkbot 3000 and Hundred Eyes Star Wars version.

Do you watch Rebels? The droid and the ship both appear briefly in RO. I saw Ghost in action, but apparently it's at the Yavin base too.

Yeah this seemed like a bit of a plot hole to me; mostly it seemed motivated for the cameo and to tie it neatly to ANH more than is actually necessary. I think Star Wars is often guilty of trying to tie together/reference the other films a bit too neatly when it doesn't need to. Anakin building C3-PO for example, or Count Dooku having plans for the Death Star. I'm not sure how that's meant to fit with Rogue One's plot, come to think of it.

When I said it wasn't for kids, I meant that before I saw it I wondered about taking my boy. After seeing it I don't think I will. I don't think the humour in it was childish, or aimed at kids, it was light stuff which it needed to go alongside

This thread is like debating Memories of Ice with someone that's only read through Deadhouse Gates.
Done.
Rogue One is a near perfect tie in to A New Hope. And hope are what rebellions are built on.

Fair enough; this was basically the justification me and my friends came up with during the post-film chat. I'd agree the script works in that there aren't massive plot holes
Spoiler
At the end of the day, I'm not really evulating how good the film is by a metric of 'how cleanly does it tie in cleanly with ANH?' (which applies to Hoosier's comment as well).
