I knew it wasn't going to be there so it didn't surprise me. Can't say I minded, it was the first step away from the main series.
Spoiler
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I was surprised by how much I really enjoyed Rogue one. So much more then the (IMHO), lazy and unoriginal, The Force Awakens which I grew to hate the more I watched it.
Rogue one was kidna....Malazan like in the way it focused on the regular soldiers and grunts. It was refreshing.

Indeed. It REALLY ties into how conflicted Vader is even after he turns, and throughout his service to the Sith. It makes his turn back more believable to be honest. I loved it.
Just re-watched the episodes of TCW where Saw Gerrera was first introduced (trained to fight by Ahsoka, Anakin, and Obi-Wan to fight to free their own planet), and he really comes off as an earlier (less at-wits-end/paranoid) version of himself as he was by the time ROGUE ONE occurs.
I've said it before, but the Lucasfilm New Canon Story Group is on the damned ball man!

Yes I did, nyah! At least I saw an article headline entitled 'why there won't be an opening crawl in Rogue One', which may have been a guess on their part but meant I wasnt expecting one.

I put it in the groove messed thread. It can't be good if they were doing cpr on her in the plane..
I now don't want to go to sleep and then wake up with bad news. We rarely get a good outcome when we get patients who arrested somewhere miles from the hospital they finally end up in.
Fingers crossed..

It is crappy, no updates for ages. Not a good sign.

Best of all, i find it offers a seamless transition to ep4. I think this movie will become the new starting point for watching the franchise.
also can someone more familiar with SW EU explain to me why the rebel alliance has one of these

In their fleet? Makes no sense.

They were based on the ones in KotoR, and stolen in an episode of Rebels.
Another nice link.

What Traveller said. When the Alliance was still young (REBELS era), Princess Leia (then about 13) delivered three old KotoR-era Hammerhead cruisers to the Rebellion. This would be one of those. Though old, they were refurbished for use by the Alliance.

Future Tech is amazing!
A starship that is still in use over a millennia after it was designed! The universe of starwars is really frozen in time.

Sorry, my mistake. These are Hammerhead Corvette's, which are Galactic Imperial era cruisers based on the original Hammerhead designs, which were in the Imperial archives schematics.
But tell me, is there some reason a well upkept ship can't somehow last 2000 years after they were built?

2000 years ago the most advance ship of western civ was the trireme.
Even if i ignore threes no sea salt in space to wear away at the armor, i just have difficulty fathoming in 2kyear ship still being relevant.
Still if its refurbished makes sense as all you need is a metal frame to use the armamenets and shields.

I agree with this. It felt like some bonding was skipped over.
I also thought that

ended up being a sort of pointless character. Similar to Maz Kanata in TFA. Otherwise, it was one of the best SW movies by a long distance. At least in the top 3. Tight and highly impactful.Despite watching for it, I missed
