Yeah it's brutal stuff. I couldn't really finish the NYT article -- the first three accounts it details (including Dolores Huerta herself) are devastating enough.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

The thing I note is that once this info dropped, EVERYONE moved to distance themselves from Chavez...which is what SHOULD happen....but 1million mentions of trump in the Files, multiple allegations from multiple women over countless decades, and a civil conviction for rape....and MAGA Republicans refuse to do anything close to the same.
The left usually does the right thing when one of theirs proves to be terrible (see Neil Gaiman), but the Right knows that if it does the right thing it tarnishes their "movement" and they can't stomach that.

The removal of Chavez from acclaim doesn't mean that labor isn't recognized. Shifting focus to other leaders is a good thing and helps the community get better/heal in addition to supporting the disclosures and pursuits of justice that is truly done.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.
