It's a phenomena quite common in sports when people want to say I've predicted x person was gonna be the next superstar. No different in literary circles.

Terez, Honestly. I've tried didplomacy, honest questions of your posts, I've tried jokes and facetious banter...but I don't get reasoned discussion from you. Ever. Maybe we ought to just ignore each other from here on out yeah? I get the feeling you have zero interest in what I have to say. I'm fine with that. Done?

Reasoned discussion is all I give you. I never pretended to know everything, and the fact that you ascribe such ridiculous pretensions to me shows that you aren't actually reading my posts with a reasonable frame of mind. You're welcome to ignore me if you like. I don't feel any particular need to ignore you.

No McShane :(.

Which makes it a little more likely that The Broken Man is a reference to the Hound, at least in part.

I'm super sad that Jaime still hasn't found out about Lancel, and that he's going to Riverrun with happy Cersei thoughts. It seems so wrong.

Loved seeing Frey and Tobias as Edmure after all this time. I was so pissed seeing play pt 2... I can't begin to say how much better Cgi was for Dany and Drogon compared to that cheesefest ride last season. No McShane :(. That was predictable outcome from Tommen and HS 1st convo they had. Liked Aerys

My wife saw Edmure and having completely forgotten him since last time was like (since we are OUTLANDER watchers as you know) "Holy shit, it's Jack Randall!" Gotta love Tobias, hopefully he'll get some more to do this season as he's such a great actor!

I really liked how the whole Horn Hill scene played out (and yeah it was massive!) The guy playing Randyll Tarly was as dickish as I always assumed him to be. I can't recall the Horn Hill scenes from the book very well, so it mostly felt new to me (I recall his sister and mom being nice to him, and Dickon just being useless).

Also, Arya giving up on her training...I didn't expect that. Seems like Syrio's training might be put to use against Faye Marsay's character at the point of needle. Either way, I'm glad as I think I realized that Arya's plot was stagnating

I think he does know. Didn't he say something about it to Tyrion in S3-4? I can swear it was brought up.

Nope. In the books, Tyrion tells him about all of Cersei's indiscretions when Jaime breaks him out of the dungeons, as retaliation for Jaime's bright idea to tell him the truth about Tysha. So from that point on in the books, we get the whole spiel up to "...and Moonboy, for all I know" every time Jaime has a POV. But in the show, he has no clue.

Also was I the only one just completely in awe at how fucking huge Hornhill was?

Definitely not. My thought was, "Damn, that puts the Red Keep to shame."

Arya was always going to have to leave. Not a great use for her character to have no say of her own over what she does.
Tatts early in SH game: Hmm, so if I'm liberal I should have voted Nein to make sure I'm president? I'm not that selfish

Tatts later in SAME game: I'm going to be a corrupt official. I have turned from my liberal ways, and now will vote against the pesky liberals. Viva la Fascism.
When Venge's turn comes, he will get a yes from Mess, Dolmen, Nevyn and Venge but a no from the 3 fascists and me. **** with my Government, and i'll **** with yours

Another interesting bit: Benjen tells Bran that he needs to be waiting for the Night's King at the Wall, which pours a little cold water on the theories that Bran will somehow meet Jon at Winterfell before episode 10, unless they really move his plot along fast. I mean, I guess it could happen. There are four episodes left.

Pretty sure Benjen said Bran needed to be waiting for him in the lands of men. That doesn't mean at the wall and doesn't mean this season.

Yeah, I think I came way late to that realization. I think I'd always thought she'd train fully as a faceless man and then leave....but this makes more sense now for sure.

I rewatched it. He said "the world of men". I mistook "the world of men" for "the Wall and then".

In an interesting way, this season seems to be weaving itself closer to the books. Still quite apart, but many things it looked like would be cut completely are now coming around. The River run stuff is making LS look increasingly likely. I would not have expected it, but the increased mentions of the brotherhood, and the moving of Brienne and Jaime there .... I'd now be almost surprised if they DON'T do it.

Not that I miss Dorne in any way, but kind of odd that the Lannisters have done NOTHING as yet about it (as if not even talking about it).

Good to see Bronn back in the next episode.

And, no, QT, Bran still isn't going to try to talk to Aerys.

I think they just decided to kill Dorne dead and write it off as a failure. Shame. They didn't have to screw it up so badly.

I can't remember a Hornhill scene in the book. The last scene with Sam I remember was him arriving in Oldtown and register at the citadel. And meeting the guy that should be dead/is now a faceless man wearing his face. Does anyone remember a Hornhill scene?

Hey man, anything can happen. I wonder why they specifically showed Bran that scene?

In the books, Sam just sends Gilly there from Oldtown, or that's his plan.

It's important to his past; not a big mystery there.

I thought it was in ADWD, But I could be waaaay wrong and just going off Sam talking about it? That book was a long time ago and I skimmed portions of it out of boredom. So yeah, don't take my word with any kind of accuracy...the more I think about it, the more I think there wasn't now,...but someone who is fresher on the books might have to weigh in.

I could be wrong but I don't think we get a description of the castle in the books. I just checked the Wiki page; there's no physical description. But it reminded me that Sam's mother is a Florent. I'd forgotten that.

In the books Randyll is at Maidenpool, which is where Brienne runs into him (and in light of some of the younger nobles there we get a lot of the Brienne the Beauty stuff). Sam never returns to Horn Hill or sees his father in person in the present.

I guess the exterior of Horn Hill is CGI. The actual castle where they filmed the scenes in Spain is much smaller.

I wonder why they felt the need to make it so big. It looks like one of those really ridiculously huge royal palaces, like Versailles or Schönbrunn.

I think it's just a sign of how rich and unspoiled The Reach is.
