I saw Anderson .Paak in Oslo .. two years ago? maybe. I'm not a hip hop guy, but I really enjoyed the concert.

I'm hardly a fan of rap but this is not a very good track is it? I mean sure, Cube has a great flow and attitude, but the actual lyrics and the beat is pretty boring and generic. Besides the chorus and a few jabs it doesn't seem on point.

I like the beat fine and that but...

Listen to this instead it's better. Even though it's got nothing to do with Trump. :p

I’ll be over here while Cube comes by to smack the taste out of Apts mouth for being disrespectful to an OG.

Hmmm I wonder if a popular long-running British sci-fi show might have influenced your choice of song there? :p

(have you see his take on one of Drake's AM/PM instrumentals? Great stuff)

And why yes, we are going Brit. Brit is where the action's at right now.

I will freely admit this is entirely the case....but the good news his that I liked it SO much that I looked up other Stormzy stuff after, and other Grime tracks in general. Some really creative stuff there!

And this has resulted in a YouTube hole I fell down that of course arrived at the Rubberbandits...

Yeah, grime's exploding right now. Which is good to see because it nearly all went pear-shaped and disappeared after its initial rise in the mid-2000s when labels and artists misjudged how they should go about trying to go mainstream. Now it's happened without any dance-rap compromise, and it's great.

GLC actually have a few albums out and I've (for some reason) seen them live, they were surprisingly entertaining.

Rubberbandits were actually number one in Ireland with 'Horse outsider's. A timeless classic

Let's talk about how adorable it is when grime fans insist it's not a branch of hip-hop, but a totally distinct musical lineage that just happens to have superficial similarities, like it was parallel evolution. Wow, how did that happen!

I mean... they're not completely wrong? No-one should be pretending that hip-hop wasn't a big influence on grime and you can call it a subgenre if you really want to, especially since hip-hop is a waaaaaay broader term and most grime artists these days make non-grime songs half the time anyway if someone's being really purist about the definition- but you can totally trace the non hip-hop influences of grime too. Even I know that and I know fuck all about it. Ultimately, both have a big carribean influence, apart from anything else.

Anyway, to bring a bit of class back into the topic after taking it all away with GLC:
