In a desperate bid to calm the increasingly irate citizens of Capua and to increase attendance in the arena, Batiatus had his gladiator slaves fighting more fiercely than ever before. The slaves were forced to practice new, complex maneuvers all morning under the scorching sun. By noon, Ariaramnes - one of the youngest and smallest fighters - could take no more. he/she collapsed upon the blistering sands. Onomaeus, the trainer, shouted at Ariaramnes to get back up, but he/she didn't budge. Seeing resentment spreading throughout the other gladiators, Batiatus signalled to Onomaeus to make an example of him/her. Onomaeus gave Ariaramnes one last chance to rise, but the gladiator only pleaded weakly for medical attention.
"You want medical attention?!" cried Onomaeus. "Very well..."
He paused, and put on a pair of sunglasses.
"...the Doctore will see you now!"
