That's par for the course for The History Channel. In their Sons of Liberty miniseries they portrayed Sam Adams as an Assassin's Creed style escapists when he was running from British troops. I wouldn't get to caught up in the actual history of the subject matter they are portraying and just take it at face value as entertainment. They should probably change the name of the channel, as they are The "History" Channel in name only.Posted Image

'The Alt-History' channel isn't nearly as catchy.

The Historical Fiction channel would work for me.

Holy shit! That could have been the best episode since last season's "Blood Eagle". Damn I got hyped at the beginning when they were embarking to lay siege on Paris. And then total decimation. Damn, that was action packed from the get go for about 50 minutes.Posted Image

Heh. Rollo was all like "no fucks were given that day". Protip, if you're too fat to get up the siege tower, don't be on Rollo's watch. He won't send you back for other duties. Posted Image

Damn, Floki could be broken now. Fuck.

One negative is Rollo going shirtless into battle. I guess they are catering to female watchers? Going armorless into battle is so anti productive....

I can vouch for my wife, who drools at the TV screen when Rollo has his kit off. So yeah, I think it's working.

Whch is why we get Laegertha and Thorunn. :D

They could have sold the shirtless Rollo is they bothered to show a few injured vikings in armor sinking to the bottom of the rivers, while struggling to get out of a mail shirt.

Regardless, the crossbows at that range would punch through the mail anyways.

I didn't think they had crossbows in the 800s, but after a little research it appears it was possible.

Shirtless Rollo was equal parts fan-padering and the whole Viking berserker running nekkid into bloodshed thing.
Also, the Seer's prediction suggests Rollo has nothing to worry about... he could be testing that. Rollo has a very complicated relationship with his gods. :D

Glorious ep overall in a hell of a strong season. This show just gets better and better.

This. My wife was actually miffed that Rollo clearly shaved/trimmed close his chest hair. I told her I'm pretty sure she's waaayy in the minority liking chest hair on a man these days!

Lagertha is just smoking hot!! Beautiful, intelligent and can wield a sword like a little demon! Right up my alley.

I was a little surprised that Ragnar sacrificed his warriors to that extent (and almost lost his son as a result) just to punish Floki. Ragnar seems about half mad and Floki is now completely around the bend, possibly for good, I think.

Also, having just seen the 3rd Hobbit movie and catching the small, crappy part that Linus Roache (the King of Wessex) got in it, I'm really impressed with his acting on Vikings. He is outstanding imo. The scene he had with Judith toward the end of the episode had me a little queasy. Does he want to sleep with his son's wife or is he just trying to keep her way off balance and under control?

Damn! Just looked up the show on IMDB to find out Linus Roache's name and found out the actress that plays Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) is a martial artist with a third degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a second degree in Karate. Earl Kalf is definitely going to die. But he's going to have an immense amount of fun first!

I really REALLY look forward to Lagatha's eventual revenge on Kalf.
I'm fairly sure it's going to make the Blood Eagle look like a relaxing Swedish massage.

...even tho' he totally saved her life on the bridge, of course it might have been more useful if he had just yelled 'DUCK' to everyone there.

Just rewatched the ep... Rollo actually stands with a bunch of shirtless dudes screaming 'BERSERKER' just before the battle.

Historically, no Viking horde ever sacked Paris, and i'm pretty sure the show won't depart from that, so it will be interesting to see how many times they're willing to try this.

Siege of Paris 845 or somesuch. The vikings took the city and were paid thousands of killograms of silver and gold to leave

Yeah, I was gonna say...I was pretty sure the vikings HAD sacked Paris at one point.

I stand corrected - i thought it was 'just' a siege.

Damn, I thought the shield maidens going all assassin's creed for siege attempt 2 was going to work..... until boiling oil came a poring through the murder hole.

Heh, that beheading scene. Classic prank by Siegfried. You 'ol cutup you.

Damn, how Ragnar has been feeling is how I feel after eating at Taco Bell (minus the urinating blood). Well, I don't piss that much blood after eating at Taco Bell.Posted Image

Damn, I wonder how Floki is going to react to Ragnar's demonstration of faith.Posted Image

[EDIT] Oh yeah, once again Rollo was all like: "not one fuck was given that day"Posted Image

I liked this episode better than the previous one.

I think Rollo has an admirer on the other side of the wall, that's why he keeps showing off.

That spiked spindle was awesome. I want to see some stuff like that in the walking dead. Crank up the A-Team's theme song, bust out the welders, and make some death machines.

Considering who Rollo was historically, I'm pretty sure you're right. ;)
