Not reading the whole thread due to spoilers, but I FINALLY got a chance to sit down with the entirety of Season 1 (on my flight home, and today since it's a holiday) and I'm utterly blown away by just how good the storytelling is. I mean the whole season is SUCH a great build with characters, tension, action, direction, cinematography, and pretty much all else. I am completely hooked (bought S2 to watch after I'm done S1), and I've lucked out with my timing as S3 is about to start and I've set it to record.
Things of note so far:
Lagertha is completely badass.
Floki is easily my fave character.
I really like that we get Aethelstan as a slow, inexorable convert from priest to ally of Ragnar.
Bjorn is a little too much like his uncle to trust him entirely.
The guy playing Ragnar is just nailing the role. He can do more with an eyetwitch and a look than anything in the script. Just amazing.
This show is giving me what I was looking for in BLACK SAILS (S1) and had found wanting...I look fwd to each new episode of VIKINGS like sweet berserker candy.
Hopefully I can catch up through S2 by Thursday.

I've just started season one, on ep 3 now.
I think it's a strong start so far; although we're watching it on the back of Sons of Anarchy s6, and so far Ragnar is baring more than a striking resemblance to Jax Teller.
With a ship.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I saw the resemblance also. I thought it would have been sweet if Charlie Hunnam could have appeared on Vikings or Travis Fimmel could have appeared on SOA. Alas, it didn't happen. Maybe Hunnam will appear on Vikings, unlikely to happen though.

Solid opening episode for season 3; setting things up for this season. And Floki, haha not content with a docile family life.

"I see a harvest celebrated in blood". And Lagertha taking the role of developing the farm on the lands offered by King Ecbert. Hmmm... seems, sort of, ominous?

Hey, why won't they split their forces like we have? Come over here and fight fair!

I really hope that was based off some historical facts otherwise that was ridiculous/convenient story telling!

That was absurd. Even more so because they didn't gauge the distance limitation of their archer's arrows prior to coming up with that strategy.

Woot! Thrilled this show is back on. This certainly is a good time of year for television series! Only problem is making sure the DVR doesn't fill up

I just saw a trailer for The Following, and they were using the Vikings theme music! Shouldn't be allowed!
Just watched ep 1 of season 2. Bit disappointed in Ragnars choice to abandon his wife, and the skip-frame Gladiator style filming of the battle, but otherwise looks promising, especially with all the boat building going on.

I didn't like Lagatha talking to the Seer! Makes me nervous all that talking in riddles.

Fun fact. By pure coincidence The Following started using that music one week before Vikings originally premiered.

Holy shit! The intensity ramped up big time in episode 2! The scene with Torstein's arm was 100% badassery!
A lot going on with this episode... with the dreams and the stigmata blood at the end. Damn this shit is going to get good (I hope).
A couple of things have been established though:
1) Kwenthrith is a psycho hose beast.
2) The approaching viking boats decorated with the severed heads of my uncle's army would make me run to.
3) Keep psychedelic mushrooms away from Rollo.
4) King Ecbert totally wants to bed Lagertha.

Nearly finished season two.
Lagertha.. just.. wow.
And after that knife in the eye trick, she is now my favourite female character on tv, in any series.
Plus she looks awesome in chainmail.

I couldn't quite tell whether Torsten lived... they showed him sitting up and they showed him lying down in what looked like a new puddle of blood.

Athelstan's plotline is generally interesting, but i dislike when they go all christian mystical... it's very cool that he survived a crucifixion (insert Monty Python joke here) and that he has a level of fame for it, but 99% of the Viking magic in this show is drugs and superstision, and i dislike the idea that they're going to fantasy as opposed to staying grounded. Ditto the three women having identical dreams before the rat exterminator from THE STRAIN showed up.

He's getting a bit pathetic about it. Man up, you're a king ffs. Go kill some guys.
Loving Floki this season... he's so nuts. Seems to have forgotten he hates Rollo tho'.

You got Donal Logue in both.
Ended up about the same way in both too, now that i think about it.
