I just watched episodes 10-14 back to back, great way to do it!

I never thought that they would top the finale of Aangs journey for sheer awesomeness but wow...

That-was-EPIC!

What an ending!

^_^ This could be my post. like every bit of it. 10 to 14 felt like an animated movie watched back to back, the build up was fluid and perfectly balanced.

Which event rubbed you the wrong way? Is it the whole 'lost' past avatars fiasco?

Yeah, I'm curious too! As Trull's son says, it seems like the only event that makes sense for that is the past avatars thing. I'm certainly interested in what they're going to do with that.

Anyone have any idea what Book 3 is going to be?

They did Water, Earth and Fire in the first Avatar series, and now they've done Air and Spirit in this one. What's left?

Thought ALOT about that.

I think this avatar will learn the next steps. 8 elements instead of four. Perhaps that gives us Air water wind and fire stepped up to spirit, wood, metal and lightening?

Not sure where they will take it but the 3rd book will be called 'Change' and I guess it will be the impact on the world leaving the spirit portals open.

Plus Spirit isn't technically an element - the Spirit world has been a part of the Avatar universe since The Last Airbender series. Even in this series, a Water Bender is the big bad who's controlling spirits, plus Jinora was an airbender and she was involved with the Spirits as well.

Going to be interesting to see where they go in Changes. I imagine champ is right, it's going to deal with the results of leaving the Spirit portals open. There's speculation out there that there is a Dark Spirit (aside from Vaatu) that is responsible for everything that's been going on - I believe the name was Koh? This seems less likely given how the season ended with Vaatu being destroyed - but it's said that neither Vaatu nor Raava can actually be destroyed - so what happened to Vaatu? I don't recall Korra actually imprisoning him in the tree again... Will he still be out there? Plus, where did Jinora go before she came in and saved Korra? What exactly did she do to save Korra? Lots of questions left, I am already very excited to see where things go!

after pondering this more, vaatu was defeated, but i doubt he was destroyed. Likely he escaped somewhere and is building up his strenght to return as the s4 villain. S3 will feature in part the consequences of s2's finale, but likely with either a return to republic citadel (varrick will return) and we still haven't touched much on the fire nation. S3 will end on something world shattering in in s4 with vaatu's return will make for something epic.

Back when s1 ended, no one could have predicted how important spirit part of avatr would become. I think we're going to be thrown another curveball which is great, it shows that even ina world as felshed out as this one, there's still room to expand and innovate.

Yeah I get that, I think perhaps its better I say "complete" mastery rather than "new" mastery of the elements.

Fact is previous avatar spirits did wonders with the basics but never took it to the level of refinement the adapts with a lifetime practicing a singular element could achieve. Since Korra grew up with three elements already in tow perhaps her bending will develop further to a point of multi-level specialization? Complete Mastery May also mean blood bending which always was a dark subject the avatar never understood.

This combined with a world directly linked to the spirits, Which you are quite right about, could see us observing Korra moderating human-spirit relations and learning from greater spirits.

I also assumed dying in the avatar state meant no more avatar spirit, soooo no more Vaatu?

Well, I remember reading speculation that Spirit would be the 2nd book basically from the moment it was noted that Korra was going to be getting a 2nd Season, so it wasn't a huge surprise to me when it turned out to be true.

I definitely agree that Vaatu isn't dead - it would go against a big part of how Korra ended up winning against him this season for him to actually be dead. I am still in the camp of there being a bigger dark spirit than Vaatu that is pulling strings behind the scenes. There's got to be something there. I was expecting Korra to have to fuse Vaatu into her alongside Raava in order to finish the season, and that didn't happen. Perhaps that will be something that will need to happen by the end of Season 3 and will be the reason the Big Bad in Season 4, who I believe has been pulling the strings all along, is drawn out of hiding.

Re: your comment about the Fire Nation - we haven't really seen anything involving the Earth nation either. So far, the big bad in both seasons have been Water Benders - however, there are 2 seasons left, we could end up visiting the Fire Nation and Earth Nations in either of those. Varrick, as you say, is still around, but he was never really a 'bad' guy, perse, he was just out to make some money.

I have been on a Korra kick all morning, re-reading episode synopses and reviews and stuff.

Something that could lend itself to the 'other elements' theory is the fact that in the episode where Korra is learning about the first avatar, Wan, we find out that there are a dozen or so lion-turtle cities. We see four of them, and they each bestow one element on Wan. What if those other lion-turtles were keepers of what are now considered 'lost' elements?

New season, still lacks the magic of the last airbender.

That said I think the new plot has some more promise

To be fair this show is following a tough act. there isn't one unifying agenda. Fire nation was a clear enemy for aang. Korra hasn't had a singular threat like that, she has several and this series has a tough task of building a new threat worthy of an Avatar as aggressive as Korra is.

That all said, yeah. some of the magic is missing.
but i think i see alot of last seasons speculation coming true this season.

I think the equalists were a great villain, they should have made it a world wide problem and kept it for more than a season. Any good show has a coherent story that is well planned out ahead of time. Even the action choreography is lacking in the new one.

Also a personal taste thing but I can't stand that republic city has phones and cars and the rest of the world is feudal china.
