I haven't checked on the publish date once, and I wouldn't be surprised if the book isn't out for more than another half year.

It's his book. It's fine with me if he doesn't chain to the typer. He owes me nothing.

I'm just glad he isn't Goodkind, who pumps out twenty pages each day.

"Did I offend you?" Lannister said. "Sorry. Dwarfs don't have to be tactful. Generations of capering fools in motely have won me the right to dress badly and say any damn thing that comes into my head." He grinned.

He's not talking about a Feast for Crows, which is not done yet, but a limited edition anthology with Martin's short stories and possibly other stuff. If you look arounf the asoiaf forum you should find a link to what the retrospective is about.

Trust me, when aFfC is released there will be massive amounts of copies.

I always think, present company excluded of course, that there's something unpleasant lurking in people who avoid drinking, gambling, table talk and pretty women

A year lasts the equivalent of an earth year i.e one rotation of the sun.Although due to unusual angle of the SOIAF planet tilt, the seasons last longer than earth seasons.

Confused?

The Green Man has returned as the living face of the whole earth .

hmm, I was looking at pre-released top 50 on amazon.co.uk and saw A Feast for Crows the paperback edition at number 4 (overall sales rank 209).

lol, kinda surprise, but then saw the publishing date which it says is: 2nd February 2004. I guess the people who don't visit GRRM website or forums, have been ordering it not knowing it isn't even fully written yet or published yet in Hardback.

Sorry spindle, didn't think much of it - gave up 3/4 through the first book.

maybe I've missed out, but there's just too much to read out there! especially being a slow reader (zonked after work).

He's probably taking so long to write it as he has to make sure he includes in the book all that the fans have been saying should happen in book four. Cause you know if he makes his fans wait 3 years for a book and they don't get what they expect then they might get angry.Posted Image

News from the aSoIaF board suggest he's got 300 more pages to write, which roughly translates to 3 more months of writing. This would bring the manuscript finished in mid-May. Add about 3 months to release, so I'm hoping for September.

Posted ImageAs much as I loved this series I don't remember the bits you are writing about mate. I do know that there was nothing that stood out to my mind as being ridiculous or unbelievable.

I think I've mentioned it before somewhere else but I like Jaquen H'Ghar best, Jon Snow's allright as well. Martin is pretty much the opposite of Robert Jordan in fantasy if you ask me. Just when you think you've got to know a character they die!

You'll realize that A Game of Thrones, as good as it was, is just an introduction book that sets the stage. Did you see that the Unsullied were actually mentioned in AGoT? When Robert and Ned go out riding, Robert mentions something about 'pointy hatted eunuchs'.

I'm on record as saying that GRRM is writing the best fantasy out there... yes even better than Erikson (ducks to avoid projectiles!) and I am willing to cut the guy alot of slack if he delivers the goods with A Feast for Crows.

"Sandkings" is included, of course; my Hugo and Nebula winner. Also the Hugo winners "The Way of Cross and Dragon" and "A Song for Lya," as well as my Nebula winning "Portraits of His Children," my Bram Stoker winner "The Pear-Shaped Man," and my World Fantasy Award-winning novella "The Skin Trade." All my awards losers will be here as well (there are lot more of those), plus a lot of personal favorites never nominated for anything. The first of my Dunk & Egg novellas, "The Hedge Knight," is reprinted here for the first time since it appeared in Legends. Haviland Tuf is on board as well, and so is the Great and Powerful Turtle from Wild Cards.
Likes to blow his own horn a tad doesn't he. Umm the Font must be pretty small in this book or all those stories are really short. How about an update on the book he's currently writing?

I agree with you about Sansa but she matures slightly later on... though not much...

I'm a member there too, since way back when. It's a nice place, a bit crowded nowadays, but nice still. Posted Image

If you haven't finished "A Storm of Swords" dont even read the thread titles. There are spoilers galore all over the place.

If you have read "A Storm of Swords" and want a sample of "A Feast for Crows" there is a very good compilation of notes from GRRMs own reading in the "A Feast for Crows" forum there. Very nice. Posted Image

@Oponn - No kidding! The problem is as more and more time goes by expectations continue to grow and grow as we begin to look back on the first three with nostalgia. At least this is my problem because I haven't had time to re-read the series in a couple of years so I am finding it hard to remember all of the story. Just remember the parts that really stuck in your mind (Red Wedding, end o' aGoT, etc).

I liked the two sample chapters he's put up but they are the definition of the word 'tease'. Nothing significant happens in them and just as the chapter ends you are starting to get into them. Arrghh, I shouldn't have read them.
