GRRM has a short story published in this new collection.

Custer's Last Jump and Other Collaborations

By Howard Waldrop, Leigh Kennedy, Steven Utley, Buddy Saunders, George R.R. Martin, Bruce Sterling, A.A. Jackson IV

This volume collects eight collaborations perpetrated by the erudite and gonzo Howard Waldrop and six fellow co-conspirators.

George R.R. Martin weighs in with "The Men of Greywater Station," wherein a small party of scientists on a world where a sentient killer fungus reigns must do battle with fellow humans perverted to the alien cause. Utley pops up for the second time with "Willow Beeman." The last man on Earth exists as an irritating germ of hatred for all other creatures—til he finds that he is more than a man.

The UK release date has been pulled back to the end of May. The cover now resembles the most recent paperbacks editions of the first three books.

Just updating here, latest by Martin is that hs still expects to finish it by the end of the year, which would IMO allow for an April/May/June release.

It goes without saying that this is just an estimate and it might just as well take till Summer 2004 (or later) till it's actually done. Quite frankly I have no idea how long this is going to be drawn out.

just to clarify: Maege Mormont is not a new PoV. The whole thing with her being a traitor and the new PoV was a scam made up by members (Lannister, Dirjj, and some others) who were at Worldcon this fall. A pretty good scam, it fooled a lot of members, but they owed up to it a few days later.

I'd be hard pressed to name which series I like better, Erikson's or Martin's. They're are both the best that's out there. I'm leaning slightly towards Martin tho. Can't wait till the next one comes out.

Favorite characters include, but not limited to: Arya, Jaqen H'gar, Jon, Tyrion, Bronn, Sandor, Jaime, Ned, Oberyn, Barristan Selmy, etc.

(SPOILER)

(SPOILER )

Only one we have evidence for ,thats Robb Stark. Catelyn has been "raised" and Theons fate has never been made clear, after he was captured by Boltons *******.

Samwell is beyond the wall, Danenyns has a new realm. And Jaime and Tyrion are alive and well. (apart from one missing a hand)

But of course GRRM will probably kill half of 'em before the end of book four....get writing fatso.

( suerly the ********* should not have been used when describing factually, someone born outside of wedlock. Theres censorship for you )

If you look at his webpage he says when his next appearance is and there seems to be a new appearance every other week or so. Why is he touring when he is in the middle of writing a book that has taken over three years? I do not understand....... Posted Image Most authors, from what I have seen, say they usually write five or six days a week, eight hours a day when writing a novel. I somehow doubt Martin is doing these appearances in his free time. I could be wrong I guess, but it is strange in any case.

If you want to read something from a Feast for Crows, there is a sample chapter (Arya) on Martin's homepage.

Just go to www.georgerrmartin.com and click on the Samples shield in the upper roght corner.

Hope he finishes his book soon so we could finally start a 'how do you like a feast for crows' topic....

I must admit that I could understand it if some WoT fans would now retaliate. Though nowhere near as oustretched as WoT itself, it does irritate me now that Martin is more and more admitting that a seventh book will probably be necessary, which means that there's no way this series will be finished before the end of this decade. Also, the delay for Feast is so absurd that WoT fans might well argue that even Jordan would have written two books in that time span.

Unlike some high profile authors I could mention, GRRM really cares about the quality of the books he publishes. I have no doubt that we all could be reading Feast right now if GRRM had, many months ago, said to himself "Ah, good enough... not my best book but my fans will still line up to buy it..." Instead, and I am thankful for this, GRRM is taking the time to ensure that this book is up to the incredible standards of the three previous volumes. This man has alot of pride in his work... and I know he wants to give us the same type of feeling we all had when we finished A Storm of Swords....

One of the high profile members over at Ran's big ASoIaF ezboard (and a friend of GRRM's as well) says that he has read many chapters apart from the ones GRRM has offered up as freebies to his fans and he maintains that from what he has read AFFC will equal, and perhaps surpass the quality of the first three books...

If anyone can deliver a novel that can live up to they hype preceding it, I think GRRM is the man....

Winter is Coming...
