Wonder if this is a precursor to ordering troops to do some unsavory acts in the future. Probably I'm just being paranoid huh.

What's next, preemptive pardons for war crimes?

Freedom time!...

Trump pushing economic war on China and physical war on Iran.

I'm starting to see America as Nelson Muntz circa early Simpsons, and Israel as the crony kid who takes Lisa's cupcakes.

So apparently Trump used a national emergency excuse to circumvent Congress and sell arms to Saudi Arabia.

WTF

So in other words: he's doing exactly what we all expected him to do, except the few people who thought he wasn't going to try and turn into Hitler a dictator as soon as possible?

I'm so shocked. /s

I believe the term you're looking for is "armed pilgimage", but it can be conveniently abbreviated to "crusade".

But surely that could only happen if you had a population that was dominated by the (religious) Right ...

...

...

Oh.

:p

Luckily we have Nancy Pelosi to protect us! For the record, the 'sitting president can't be charged with a crime' thing isn't in the Constitution or any legal code, it's just some guidance imagined up by *ahem* Richard Nixon's DOJ in a 1973 memo.

Drama time!

Impeach and watch the Senate squirm and do nothing.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Today, the racist idiot admitted that Russia helped get him elected and the evil McConnell blocked a bill that would help prevent further election interference.

In a world of awful people, Mitch somehow manages to stand out as being particularly vile.

He just misspoke, Tiste. He meant to say they didn't help him get elected. That should be obvious. Fake news!

Also election interference isn't bad if it helps get the Republicans elected.

Thats the thing that baffles/frustrates me the most i think. Even if you can convince yourself Trump is a stable genius, that the economy is amazing, that immigrants are the debil, and that the Mueller investigation is a WITCHHUNT!!! There was a systematic attack by Russia on our sovereignty and almost all Republicans are like "shrug".

On a side note, we need all but a handful of Democratic hopefuls to drop out and run for Senate. It may not be AS important as president, but getting turtlehead fucknuts out as Senate majority leader is vital.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

Honestly I think the job of a senator is more important.

The whole Presidential race/hero worship thing is part of what has led to Trump. The head of the executive branch could probably disappear tomorrow and government would still function just fine. The entire Senate going AWOL, though, would probably be a different story.
Honestly it's just a prestige thing, and it should stop. It encourages personality politics, and leads to a lot of promises that can't be kept unless the party controls all of Congress, and works together on the policies. It's bad for your democracy.
