If you guys don't finish this calendar on time, then the Mayan calendar wins and we all die in 2012. No pressure though.

A looks a bit remote to me. B is cool. Stance-wise, it's a very recognisable katana stance, so don't worry about that. 1 is very traditional, be a nice torso shot. 2 is the one I would have issues with from a swordwork point of view -- it would need a pretty lightweight sword, rapier-style, unless you can get some suggestion of movement. It wouldn't be a static stance. Looks like the end of a cut. 3 I don't like, a bit belligerent for Brys IMO. 4 is really cool, but would mean no torso shot *sad face*.
It is perfectly monstrous the way people go about nowadays saying things against one, behind one's back, that are absolutely and entirely true.

Nobbs: he should lay on some furs by a fire, holding his sword....

Tried to fix Iccy's stupid legs. Are they better now? If not, I'll just pretend he put them down somewhere and can't remember where he left them. He'll be legless, but very true to his own character :unworthy:

thats the exact reason i was dodging the subject lol. Thanx for reminding us about how hotttt Halle berry is though...:unworthy:

Anyway UOW has a point about B . Might work really well with a light sword, just need to centre his stance more...

pretty close to finished.

Great work Dolmen, loving it.

The glove looks very nice, a touch of artistic freedom.

If you indeed make it more blank (remove the circle and those lines around it) it really could work.

Man these drawings really makes me want to brush up my very very rusty drawing skills.

Already bought some books with hints and tips for drawing fantasy creatures etc and I'm planning to get a Wacom Bamboo Fun Medium Pen&Touch.

I also still have to finish the Bridgeburner logo which I started on years ago, but never got around to finish since I couldn't really get the right design for the flames.

well thats insight for ya, and yes dutch that wacom touch is an excellent buy. If you're keen on brushing up skills i can always start a brush up thread with tuts and stuff that help general skills and basics. Was planning on doing this anyway but calendar comes first ;)

ok we're into november and still outsanding a few months. I'd really appreciate all those still working to post up whatever they have so far or link to it if necessary. If anyone needs help just ask. We really would like this ready before the end of the month

awesome! Its cool to work up what you have. Once you upload to DA however id like to think of that as pretty much your final submission.

Sorry, I've been horribly busy! But here's what I have on Iccy so far. Will get started on Tattersail as soon as Iccy is done, and my wrist doesn't hurt like a motherlover ;) Also, Skyrim in 5 days. MW3 in 8 days. :)

Here's what I have for Brys, still haven't settled on a pose yet.
This is just a place holder, probably will go for a 1 handed, looked on youtube as was
suggested up thread, European long swords stances are pretty boring. Found some
Wudang longsword moves that I think will look pretty good, which is closer to how I picture
Brys fighting anyway (too many kung fu movies probably)

@Grim - looking good, but, I think the angle of his nose is wrong. From that angle
I think we should see the underside of his nose. Its a small thing but its the first thing I notice.

I have done a few things since the here, but nothing I even remotly like, so I'm still at that step more or less.
I'll do my best to finish in time, but right now I can't promise anything, so if someone wants to take over to make sure it get's done by end of november I don't mind.

@ corp: I like your idea but there are some anatomy and balance issues I'd think you might
want to change. stance could be wider and the back foot should be facing the viewer more.
If you straghten the knee more and reduce the thigh (to match the one on the right) the result
would feel more natural.

@ Lyca: If you've developed anything that's great! We don't need perfect work. you can choose to submit
whatever you have. If you wanna pass on it we might as well just source a Silchus already done by someone
else(With their consent of-course.) don't think starting it from scratch would be practical.

@Grim: HAPPPY BIRTHDAY! and I think you're pretty much there. you've put tons of work on it already. ;)

OK heres my final version of cottilion. if I change anything its just the colour scheme.

toned it out to match the month.

NB: all artists should brand their work with a signature
or mock signature. this is vital to protect it from art
thieves etc. your user name from either this site or
DA is fine, if you're skittish about your identity.

Nobbs: I really tried that, but he ended up looking like a pig! Got any advice/tuts/refs on how to avoid that?

Dolmen: THANK YOU! I've got some minor things left to sort out, smoothing and such. And, naturally, the coloured blobs will not be there in the final piece ;)

Also, Cotillion is tasty!
