Before that happened, Grunt almost gave me a heart attack. That scene that looks like it's his final stand ... the whole lenght of it I was staring at the monitor and going "Fuck. Shit. No, no, no, no this can't be." Needless to say I almost woke up the entire house with a scream of joy when the bastard staggered out of that place battered but alive. I have a feeling this game will hit me just as hard as Malazan. Oh gods.

Finished it. I have no idea why everyone is whining about the endings. The ending I had was awesome.

I believe it is called the 'Green' ending.

Wait till you get to the quarian-geth bits, as it is known that Tali and Legion are the awesomest crew members ever and the dialogue in their scenes really delivers.

I must say, all of the ME2 people's cameo only approach is piece by piece very well done (I even almost felt a pang of sympathy for Samara and Jack, both of whom I loathed in ME2, and Thane is boss), but I would've preferred one or two of them being permanent companions. I mean, did we really need Kaidan Alenko or Ashley Williams back?

The reason people are pissed is because of the way it's done. The Catalyst kinda comes out of the left field, the three choices feel weird (like the three buttons you could press at the end of Deus Ex: Human Revolution) and they all use the same movie clip but with a different color which feels lazy, the two people that were with you when the blast hits you suddenly appear on the Normandy, the Normandy is running from Earth because .... it's not explained and the green ending is riddled with problems {how on Earth did a green wave turn everything into a cyborg just like that? magic?). There is also the fact that the leaked ending was apparently different and less confusing. I've seen the endings and can live with them but they give me no catharsis {pretty much like how DE:HR and Neverwinter Nights 2 left me going "Wait what?"). Still they did leave the door open for a blatant post-game dlc or even ME4 what with that "Tell me another story about the Shepard" bit. I still say those two were not needed and like the different colored waves + the weird Catalyst felt tacked on at the last minute for reasons we don't know yet. My headcannon right now has subscribed to the theory that Shepard was being indoctrinated and the three options where the Reapers trying to trick Shepard into submitting to them - with the red option being presented as bad since that would mean Shepard beats the indoctrination and there might even be feedback that fries Harbinger.

Why do I have a sinking feeling that the Quarians decided to attack the Geth? And yeah Tali and Legion are awesome. However the best character for me was always Garrus. Seeing him and Katrina Shepard together is just heartwarming (even if there might be some chaffing). And it let Jack shoot off the line "Bite me Garrus! No wait, bite Shepard, I bet she likes it."

I finished it yesterday and now I'm sad. Not because of the ending, but because it ended! No more Mass Effect Sure I could, and will, replay the series but it won't be the same.

Their will be of shoots (were already getting Ipad games). Also as the gaming industry continues to mirror the movie industry expect a series reboot on the 9th generation of consoles!

I would love a Mass Effect RTS. Turians to hold the line supported by Quarian combat engineers, Krogan shock troops, Salarian STGs hardened with some Asari commandos operating behind enemy lines. Would need a new intergalactic threat though.

As has been said The Reapers aren't just killing everything, they are harvesting Organic life. However it seems they are a bit picky about exactly which life they harvest, the Husks can apparently "scan" organic beings to determine their DNA. Once this is done the Harvesters then determine which ones they want (I suspect this is what the Collecters were doing, making some kind of database on Genetic make-up to determine who best to harvest) and these ones are "liquified" while the others are either Indoctrinated into Docile Slave labour or turned into Husks.

The Codex says that harvesting doesn't happen straight away, it takes time to set up the harvesting areas and equipment and then to determine who the want to harvest. I suspect the first attack force is purely to take out the planets defences and clear areas for harvesting equipment.

Oh please. I did the Multiplayer (its a lot of fun) and had 100% galactic readiness. I had full military strength bar BEFORE I went to

The thing is - the best ending ISN'T the best ending - it's more just pandering to fans who were going to kick up a fuss over the end.

Anyways, even if I had the EMS score I still wouldn't have gotten it because the 'green option' is the best one in my opinion.

My money is on Bioware releasing DLC that will end up allowing SP to achieve the 'best ending' anyway and the whole arguement will become moot.

And come on, as far as I know you don't have to pay for MP on PS3 or PC and the Xbox game comes with 2 Days free of Xbox Live Gold so it's not like it will cost you anything to play the MP and get the best ending at least once.

If you have 5000 EMS you can choose to destroy the Reapers OR control the Reapers OR synthesis, and if you don't interrupt The Illusive Man to "save" Anderson, Shepard will still live unless you choose Synthesis or Control

I do think you need to have maxed/almost maxed Renegade or Paragon points to do it though.

The trick is that 4000 to 4999 EMS saves Anderson. 5000+, and he dies - perhaps a reflection of dawdling too long doing other stuff in the galaxy rather than rushing back to earth to save it him. Or so I read somewhere.
