EA is advertising the game as being suited for new players as well as the old players. You'll be missing all the throw backs and backgrounds of many of the characters but the story should be accessible.
How ever, why not just buy ME1 and 2 and play them first? They're great games and dirt cheap.

Thank you for the reply Apt. I am relieved that ME 3 will allow entry for new players. Regarding playing ME 1 and ME 2, I would love too, but it's a case of so many games, too little time. But I understand it is worth it for this franchise.

ME1 and 2 can be purchased for around 20-30 bucks total. By the time you finish them 3 will be down from 60 to 30 or 40. So, being the mathematician that i am, you can buy 3 for 60 or get ALL 3 for the same. huh? huh? huuuuuuuhhh?

I'm only3 hours in but I sure am enjoying it. It plays just like 2 so far.

These aren't actually user scores. It's just a trolling campaign, probably originating from /v/. I think bad user scores were showing up even before the game was released to the public.

If you if you uploaded your saves from previous games to the cloud, those saves are not compatible with ME3. That seems... Well fucking retarded. And Bioware certainly lose points in my book for this being the case. Maybe it'll get fixed, but that is one hell of a day one bug...
For anyone that did, Microsoft says your saves MAY work if you download them off the cloud, onto the console that the saves were originally made on. Then if you need to transfer them to the console you want them on, do it via memory stick/usb. If you don't have access to that console anymore, well tough fuckin' luck apparently...

Well, it might be, it might also be nerd rage. I browsed the Bioware forums last night since I'm not bothered at all by spoilers and it "seems" people are severely dissatisfied with all 3 of the available endings. I saw the ending whining. I dont understand why they are whining. The endings are different, and just because there isn't the ending they wanted doesn't mean it isn't different. Bleh.

I liked DA2, and anyone who didn't just wanted DA:02, meanwhile they complain that games like Modern Warfare or Halo never change. YOU CANT HAVE IT BOTH WAYS MOTHERFUCKERS.

Whoa whoa whoa candy pants. I liked it too, I beat the damn game twice. Stalker just said people were comparing it to DA2 and my opinion was, it was not. It is a lot like ME2.
And I'm still enjoying it immensely.

Oh man, the visual eye-candy is astonishing. Never played something that looked this good. I agree with SB that it feels a lot like ME2, but improved in almost every way (apart from bouncy instead of sticky grenades... loss of control there).
I'm just at the Citadel after doing the Mars-mission, and I gotta say, the early dialogue is awesome. Kaidan is truly butt-hurt to the point of being a nuisance. Liara was more natural than in both other games, which is a good thing since she's
I'm looking forward to meeting all the other cast members. Particularly looking forward to seeing if Kasumi is in my game, even as just a cameo, because I played her DLC only after I did the Suicide Mission.
I'm just at the Citadel after doing the Mars-mission, and I gotta say, the early dialogue is awesome. Kaidan is truly butt-hurt to the point of being a nuisance. Liara was more natural than in both other games, which is a good thing since she's

Not true, I didn't like DA2 because the story was not that good and the characters annoyed the hell out of me, every last one of them. DA2 was very good in parts, but on the whole, I didn't like it as much as the first one.Which is not to say I wanted DA:O 2. I liked that DA2 was only loosely connected to the first one; I wanted to see more of the world and doing so with your character from the first game wasn't feasible.

See, I totally agree on the visuals, but have heard a lot of people slagging them off too. What format are you on? I'm playing it on the PC and it looks amazing.
I saved Ashley in ME1, and the early dialogue is great...
