...I don't understand how we go from the Freakangels being super-worried about Arkady being the only one to hold together a moat in time to them going to drink. I'm beginning to think that Ellis didn't really have much of anything planned for that and is winging it here.

Arkady wasn't holding the moat - they all put it in place before going sleepytime. In the end she basically sat there while Connor bled out of his head for a while.

But yeah, after amping up the tension so much between Alice's helicopter and the moat and Mark's evil plan we seem to have suddenly veered off into sitcom zone. Odd turn.

Arkady and Connor's conversation was interesting tho - not sure whether she was referring to herself, Connor or all of them.

And still hoping for a big Mark-it-was-all-part-of-my-master-plan moment.

I agree with apt actually, it does look really odd. It's a bit jarring. Like the splatter on connors hair. Just looks so out of place.

I also think it'd be nice to get to the action. The comics haven't been bad, but the sudden dissipation of the tension makes the pacing feel a bit all over the place...

nevermind the fact that connors blood spatter completely disappears for all of page 5 :p

To jump on the bandwagon: there's also no blood on the floor of Connor's room. Considering how much blood there was a couple of episodes ago Connor and his carpet should be soaked in it. This kind of carelessness/inconsistency is a bit jarring, to me at least. Thought I was alone there, though :p

isn't that just a change in camera angle?

or maybe Arkady did some cleaning while she was sitting around not fighting Mark or blowing americans out of the sky or doing anything else of interest...

Nay, same angle and the books lying around are the same as well. And it's a carpet, getting blood out of a carpet is a lot of work, especially with someone lying in this very same puddle of blood.

Don't want to sound too picky, though. I like FA not less because of some slip-ups, Paul Duffield actually got better and I only can imagine what it's like to draw six pages every week while working on other projects as well.

Wheeeee!

But in all seriousness though. I wonder if they're trolling the readers. I think they have a bet going to see how long they can stretch the story with out revealing what the hell is going on before the fan base goes nuts.

My impression is that it's Ellis not having a lack of urgency.

I theorize that this is so because he hasn't quite worked out precisely what the "bad guy" or the "problem" is and how to introduce this arc to the story overall. He's dawdling in order to rig up the details.

That would have been so much better if Alice had shot KK.

She can't die either, so it'd have been a really good "No horsing around" moment. Hilarious. I like your style.

I could be wrong, but we're most of the way through book five and isn't this supposed to be the last book, or did he say six? Because if this is the last book then i would agree with you it's dawdling.

Especially after KK bothered herself to build a new one after Luke shot her down.

Seriously, turn someone into paste ffs!

I really want Mark to wake up, reveal that he's been playing them all along and just beat the crap out of everyone at this point.
And then Arkady goes nuclear...

Maybe he's taken a leaf from the Jordan book of milking an idea. What ... too soon?
