I bet next Friday is going to be a skip week just to fuck with us.

Also loved the "He's just an asshole on a subatomic level" line.

yes and yes.

I think we're building to a 'You're the Whitechapel leader now, Alice, cuz we have to go meditate and become gods and stuff.' resolution.

Also because Alice is more effective than all the FreakAngels put together. With the possible exception of Arkady.

If you think about it, the people of Whitechapel seem to have no leadership within themselves whatsoever. They've become reliant upon the benevolent overlords that the Freakangels are and have no effin' idea what to do with the refugees or how to reestablish societal institutions like a justice system or non-Freakangel governance.

Whitechapel is an accretion of people around the Freakangels. The purple people provide an island of stability and because they're the bedrock of the society, if they withdraw, everything falls to shit. That's why Alice is awesome. She steps right in and kicks asses to get things properly moving.

It's almost like the angels are God in a way. How much to interfere or to withdraw becomes a quandary for them.

Which is sort of the direction we seem to be going in... that Whitechapel needs to stand on its own without the F'Angels.

Mark's insurrection attempt and Luke's dickheadedness has basically kicked the FAs into action as opposed to ongoing non-commital reaction, but it's also highlighted their failings.

GREAT GREAT AWESOME GREAT episode.

We probably didn't need to wait like 12 weeks or whatever for it, but even so, that's the Ellis i know and worship.

It's a total mindfuck and explains a LOT, and the change of expression on Mark's face from the start to the end is PERFECT.

Also, i want to have Alice's children.

Yeah :gando: Means the choppers were real, too - just the question goes begging: why did the USA wait X years?

Maybe they've attempted to enter Britain through other places. It's a big place, they could have made landfall and set up a base somewhere up north with out the Freak Angels knowing.

Or maybe there wasn't any political or miltary backing for doing such an attempt, most likely entering the area could be lethal.

I'm figuring the time barrier made it impossible or almost so, except for glimpses like Alice had and presumably Mark had a while ago. A bit of a question whether that happened to Mark before or after Karl and Kurt psistabbed him in the brains. I'm thinking after when the upgrade kicked in.

Mark has had the upgrade for years and all he's managed to do is make a few dead man's time bombs and sneak into the FA's territory? He must have been faffing around for a while on an idyllic vacation of sorts before being scared within the last year or so. Either that or the Americans chased him out of his old fief...

While perhaps lacking in much wanted bloodshed involving Alice's gun and Mark's face, great ep today. I must remember that gun ass shit to brains threat for future use.

I think the character is verging on the point of nonsensical competence. I liked the episode, but why is it that Arkady has to say out loud what the readers are already thinking?

Not really nonsensical competence. She's a survivor who's amongst people who are either powerful but incompetent (the FAngels, despite their powers) or incapable of surviving without assistance (the humans in Whitechapel). everything she's done, which amounts to using a shotgun and swinging from a rope, has been established as something she was doing before she came to Whitechapel.

As for Arkady, think of it as confirmation, not restatement, especially in contrast to Sirkka and KK's reactions.
