I was at the gym yesterday and I was stretching out when I heard one of the employees telling another "You become addicted really quickly..."
Now I had no idea what they were talking about, having hear nothing of the conversation except that. From that one phrase I knew it was about Twilight. (OK not just the phrase, it was two girls and the one talking had that tone of voice).
I almost jumped the wall down to the desk area to tell them to stop! But I don't think Twilight is worth bodily harm to my person. So I just told the girl who hadn't read it when she passed by not to read it by telling her it sucked and giving her a quick synopsis of the series (which had me ruin the ending, if you can ruin something so predictable).
I hope I saved a soul.

Good job DW. Return to base.

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

NEW New Moon Trailer:

http://www.youtube.c...Zo&feature=fvhl

It took me a while to catch on, the acting is extraordinary, levels above the first film...

Are you being sarcastic?

At any rate, Apt, if you confess a liking (or loving :( ) of Twilight I will toilet paper your house.

And call you a rude name.

Did you two actually watch the trailer? It's a spoof.

Ok. So I'm going to read Twilight. Here's my reasoning: I bugs the shit out of me when people trash a book/movie that they haven't read/seen, and I have caught myself doing this about Twilight all the time. So, in the interest of being an educated basher, I'm taking a bullet and reading it.

It's like the whole Harry Potter thing. I enjoyed those books, but am more than willing to discuss their flaws. Problem is, the only people I have had try to tell me they are shit are people who haven't read them. This is annoying. It annoys me that I am beingone of those guys about Twilight.

Have no fear though, there is no chance I will actually enjoy this shit. The next time I get an opportunity to bash a Twitard though, when they say "you don't know what you're talking about, if you actually read them you would know how good they are" I will be able to retort that I have actually read them, and that's how I know they suck.

Remember, bashing on something because it's the cool thing to do is as bad as loving something because it's the cool thing to do.

I'm borrowing the books from a Twitard, so as not to actually support the books through sales or library borrowing.

I'm doing this for you guys. I will add validity to this thread, that at least one of us has read the books we're bashing. It's the same reason I read Goodkind. I like to be an informed hater.

I'll let you know how it goes.

If you come back all sparkly, RLY, I'm going to have to e--punch you in the junk for gambling your soul like this.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Well RLY, all the best. I hope you took your survival pack. Oh, and annotate it with funny captions and show us pics. :(

You can know about something without experiencing it directly, and you can know something would suck from a distance.
2012 The Movie is going to suck, no one will disagree, but no one has seen it.
Degenerative tissue diseases are bad and you wouldn't be happy to have one, but you don't need to contract it to know it's bad.

Basically what I'm saying is that you don't have to go kiss the person with flu to know he has the flu and that it sucks.
The symptoms are all there.
All you need to do is read a synopsis (both partial of both sides and impartial ones) and excerpts from the book.
A doctor doesn't need to infect his or her self to make a prognosis of another patient.

What will survive this experience will no longer be the RLY we once knew. 10-to-1 it only has five tentacles.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

AHEM - with suitable apologies to wully shakespeare :( -

Alas, poor RLY! I knew him, Darkwatch:
a fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy:
he hath borne me on his back a thousand times;
and now, how abhorred in my imagination he is!
my gorge rims at it.

Here hung those quips that I have lolled I know not how oft.
Where be your gibes now?
your gambols?
your songs?
your flashes of amusing pics,
that were wont to set the Phoenix Inn on a roar?
Not one now, to mock your own grinning?
read Twilight -fallen!
