We watched GHOSTBUSTERS AFTERLIFE last night. It’s excellent and everything I wanted out of a GB sequel. Well done, and just enough nostalgia blended with freshness to make it super enjoyable.

Attack the Block was a riotous good time. Didn't try to be more than what it was and stayed in its pocket/lane, and delivers. Movie has to have cult status, yeah? It has that vibe. The ending was pretty epic. The Star Wars dude is mad young in this. I did find myself turning on the closed captioning and then searching for the meaning of the south London street kid slang that dominated the dialog. They should have done a spin off called The Adventures of Probs and Mayhem. What do you think was in that super soaker? ewwwwww.
Get that snitch, get the strap.
Don't give a fuck, blat blat blat!
I did some searching, looks like Attack the Block 2 is in the works...ehhh, not sure it that is a good idea. A decade on from the original? And sequels never can capture lightning in a bottle again. I have low expectations for it, but I will certantly stay up on what comes together.

Didn't know they were doing a sequel. Agree with you about it though.
Instead, try to watch Cockneys Vs Zombies. Even more ridiculous and not quite as good or well budgeted but still silly.

I know who the killer is in the new SCREAM movie. I also know who dies.
I have not seen the movie, but I know the general gist.
I feel like my idea was WAY better than this...but my idea would have bookended the series as a closer...the way they did it means it can go on, so meh.
Still, I'm glad I looked this up as I won't watch it with expectations now.

MATRIX RESURRECTIONS is out on digital on Friday for $30.
I pre-ordered it, and we will be watching MATRIX REVOLUTIONS tomorrow to prepare ourselves for the new one.

And Amph was right. I not only liked it. I liked it A LOT, and feel that it’s a very grown up long sequel along the lines of Blade Runner 2049, that doesn’t try to redo the past, but instead leaps forward and tells a new story and enhances the overall world.

The new Bond flick, however, is dull as dishwater.
I've never been so entirely bored by a James Bond movie before, but here we are. Aside from a couple of decent action sequences, the rest is SO much drawn out melodrama.
I barely finished it.

The Harry Potter 20th anniversary reunions show was fantastic. I thought it was really, really well done.
Best line of the show, Robby Coltrane -
“People will be watching in 50 years time, Yes. I’ll not be here sadly…..but Hagrid will”.

Watching too many Red Letter Media Best of the Worst videos has hardened me. This doesn't look half bad.

The cinemas reopened so I went and saw Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
I'm lukewarm on that film. It's not a bad story but it's a very slow, very safe manuscript. It's a ghost story but nothing in the film is actually scary. The movie doesn't have original ideas, except it just builds on old ideas and gags. That's not bad if you're looking for that nostalgia trip but the film doesn't create a foundation for future Ghostbusting movies.
Great send off for Harold Ramis and the rest of the old cast though. Not written well enough to pull my heart strings but still a good farewell.

Well duh, it's an adventure/comedy. Like the original. I was 12 when I saw the original at the cinema and even then the only bit that got me was right at the start with the old lady ghost in the NY public library.

I disagree, if they want to go forward with McKenna Grace and the Podcast kid, with cameos from the old crew, that could work. Apparently Dan Ackroyd said he'd be interested in getting the old gang back together for upto 3 more sequels, but I think maybe one more movie and maybe a TV mini-series could do it.

Something something cold and dead inside ...
I just watched it and thoroughly enjoyed it for what it was, a fun film well done with love and very big nods to the original. Some people say "fan service" and "nostalgia trip" like they are dirty concepts. Well, fan service sometimes is but that's another story.
3 live
Spoiler
Ghostbusters out of 4.

Joel Coen's MacBeth with Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand is pretty decent if you want to sample some Shakespear. Nothing earth-shattering, but very true to the play and some nice cinematography and art design. The crone(s) is/are awesome.

Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.
