I think you're all fucked in the head. We're 10 hours from the fucking fun park and you want to bail out.

In a movie thread that contains the opinions of on Aptorian, that might be the most cock my head, what the fuck thing i've read on here.

Huh, what's that? Is it a real comic or just wishful thinking?

I sandwiched an attack on QT's preference of Vacation movies between 2 movie quotes.

Never mind, I just googled it and apparently it was canned because of the New 52. :(

@Slow Ben
Fair enough.

Just saw The Mummy. Maybe it was because I was expecting a bad film but I really liked it. The last third was weak but this was a fast paced fun action film.

Russel Crows Dr. Jekyll character was worth the price of the ticket alone.

Speaking of National Lampoon, Stephen Furst -- Flounder from Animal House -- died. I'm not a huge fan of Animal House tbh but he was also on St. Elsewhere and, something I didn't know, played Fan Boy on Freakazoid. Like Comic Book Guy, that was a character that nailed certain members of the geek subculture and was ahead of its time in predicting its place in the zeitgeist.

I've decided to watch all those Disney films I never watched in the past... oh, 25 years. Which is pretty much all of them. I think the last Disney film I watched was Lion King or Aladdin.

I'm starting with Lilo and Stitch.

This film is legitimately one of the funniest films I've watched I think. I've been laughing more or less constantly at the way Lilo is animated and written. This is both a really accurate but exaggerated depiction of a real girl and at the same time just hilariously silly. Who ever wrote this manuscript deserves some kind of award.

That's a pretty good project. Lilo + Stitch and Emperor's New Groove are both real gems. Atlantis and Treasure Planet are both underrated too imo. Hunchback, Hercules, Mulan: all pretty good, even though they each suffer from Post-Aladdin Sidekick Syndrome. That said, there are a few of their duddiest duds: Home on the Range is probably the worst 2D Disney movie, and Pocahontas sucks too (though I might be in the minority there). And a lot of the early non-Pixar CG movies are pretty bad.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Finished Lilo & Stitch and then watched Mulan.

I think Lilo & Stitch got a bit dumb towards the end with the Alien hunting stuff but in general I think this was a really, really funny film, with a lot of heart and great characters. I can see why it got turned into a show.

Forget about Stitch, Lilo is just about the most adorable girl I've ever seen brought to life in a story. She's up there with Lyra from Phil Pullman's His Dark Materials.

Watched Mulan afterwards and this film pales in comparison. I believe Disney choses to go with a new art aesthetic for each film they make, but Mulan looks like a cheap straight to DVD cartoon sequel. It reminds me of a high budget Hannah Barbera cartoon and that's not a compliment.

The film is old so I guess it deserves a pass but the story is pretty generic. Girl runs away to prove herself and saves the empire... okay, maybe not that generic, one might actually call the film progressive for its time but I feel like I've watched dozens of this kind of film and I don't think it does it better than any other story like it.

The character's are un-exceptional and in the year 2017, Eddie Murphy's smart mouth dragon side kick just feels outdated and annoying.

All that criticism aside, I think the story is solid enough. The pacing is good and I cared about the ending. But I'd still rather watch GI Jane, Mrs Doubtfire or Heartbreak Ridge. Then again, I'd watch Heartbreak Ridge over damn near anything.

random story that will make little to most of you or be funny popped into my head regarding Mulan.

When it was released on VHS it was one of my friends little sisters favourite films, and she had this little toy horse thing, you the brush shaft with a wooden horse head on it, so she would run around the house shouting THE HUNS ARE COMING!!! THE HUNS ARE COMING!!!

now over here Hun is a slang/derogatory term for a prodestant, usually shouted by some fuckwit wannabe rebel catholic kid (in the same way fucktard loyalist kid will shout "taig" in the opposite direction, man NI is a fun place).

so we're all down at my friends holiday home at the beach (we're all prods, but the not giving a fuck kind) and a load of her catholic friends are there with us having a barbeque (they would similarly be of the not giving a fuck kind) so we're laughing and having a beer when this little girl comes storming in through everyone on her horse yelling at the top of her voice the THE HUNS ARE COMING!!THE HUNS ARE COMING!! and then gallops away.

we were pissing ourselves laughing at the other guys reactions just.

hey I never said it was a GOOD story

Made me give a little snort of laughter... :(

The best Disney film though is The Emperor's New Groove. It beats everything.

By sheer coincidence I just read VP Mike Pence's classic review of Mulan (not joking, spoiler for size):

Okay, I've made a list of all the Disney films I've borrowed. Are there any essential ones I'm missing? I'm sure some of my child spawning friends may have more.

Brave
Cars
Cars 2
Moana
Tangled
Tarzan
The Emperor's New Groove
Toy Story
Toy Story 2
Toy Story 3
Up
Wreck it Ralph
Zootropolis

I think some of these aren't Disney films but same difference.
