Don’t know if Hollywood is going for a more Everyman approach (I don’t think so, since all famous actors are still genetic specimens) or me getting older but the quality or look or leading men and women in Hollywood has changed.

Timothy Chamelet is 28 but doesn’t look out of place playing a teenager Paul atreides in dune. Zendaya is similarly 27 but looks younger.

I had to look it up and was shocked by the answer but Angelina Jolie was only 24 when she played tomb raider and she looked like a grown women and became a sex icon. Of course I was like 14 at the time but even looking at her in that movie today she strikes me as older than 24.

Action stars used to be Arnold, Stallone and Bruce Willis and today we have Tom Holland string in uncharted.

The leading stars all seem younger, shorter, less muscled on average. Men and women both. Am I cherry picking here or is this a real trend? Why?

I also feel like star power in general is diminishing. A Bruce Willis movie was a Bruce Willis movie. It was written for and marketed for him it felt like. Angelina Jolie was the go to sex icon for a few years. Feels like no one gets that same kind of recognition anymore.

Although actors also seem to purposefully not want to be type cast in the same way but did being type cast as an action star hurt Bruce Willis career or catapault it?

First of all - you are definitely getting older. That's the main difference. Sex appeal fluctuates and reflects trends in most ways. There may be Timothee Chalamet but there is also Chris Hemsworth (alright the acting chops are different but they are still both stars).

But also Tom Cruise is the last of the old school movie stars. Ignore physical size, it's about star power and mystique. Social media means stars have to seem "authentic" to make it in the first place now. Tom made it early enough that he remains an enigma and that inaccessible element is what makes a mega star. Once they seem accessible the magic has gone.

We're watching Saving Private Ryan and drinking rum. The kids at my mums.

Anyway. Got me spouting off that war is a male construct. If women were in charge there would be no physical war. There probably would be psychological warfare. Would the world be better off with a passive aggressive industrial complex instead of military one? I think it would. Someone should do a multiverse version.

I wonder what the annual turnover of the passive aggressive industrial complex would look like.

I made the statement yesterday to one of the apprentices that if no one made weapons the world would be a better place. He was adamant I was wrong because the police needed guns.

If women ruled the world there would be no wars, only really intense negotiations every 28 days.

One of my favourite facts is actaully that medieval queens started more wars than their male counterparts. The theory I believe is that since they were not expected to lead the war by example they didnt have to worry as much about what would happen at home while they were away. So they could send their consort or general to fight and still rule back home. Less risk to them so more wars overall.

That's exactly how I felt about it. There was so much to love, and yet... I dunno it felt like it was missing a spark or something.

Boy Meets World, Boy Kills World, Boy Marries World? Is that the sequence of event?
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I figure "Boy Gets Into Congress" and "Boy Kills World" are the same story.

Whole lotta info, speculation and new trailer for Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire.

https://editorial.ro...iler-cast-more/

Could be fun or utter shit. While it looks pretty I'm not feeling too confident. I hope I'm wrong.
