Indians jones five came out. I have no nostalgia or interest for it. Crystal skull went a long way to destroy it sure. However a lot of Hollywood’s absurd sequels and reboots seem to be hitting flat lately.

I hope so. Maybe a punch to the wallet can finally drive in ovation again.

Same. I’m waiting till I hear some positive feedback. Otherwise I’ll wait till it’s free streaming, maybe.

I've finally been introduced to John Wayne. Fucking amazing movies. The Searchers, She Wore A Yellow Ribbon, The Quiet Man and many more I've seen.

(scans Wikipedia)

The Man who shot Liberty Valance
True Grit (fucking awesome)
The Longest Day
Stagecoach
Red River
Fort Apache
Sands of Iwo Jima
Rio Grande
Flying Leathernecks
Hondo
The Alamo
North to Alaska
The Comancheros ("Monsooooooor ..." :) )
Hatari!
How the West was won
The Sons of Katie Elder
El Dorado
The Green Berets
Chisum
The Cowboys
Cahill US Marshal
McQ
Branigan

this stuff was the absolute staple of the midday movies on the weekends when I was growing up in regional New South Wales. 2 channels - one the ABC (think BBC, not American ABC), and the other commercial. That's it.
Good times though. :)

And it turns out he was inadvertently in Star Wars!

The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance is top notch. But it's more of. Jimmy Stewart movie, with Wayne as a great supporting actor. And Jimmy Stewart rules.

Seconded. My dad is a huge John Wayne fan so I grew up with those films. Liberty Valance and The Searchers are my top picks.

Searchers is fantastic.

New Narnia film apparently in the works at Netflix: https://screencrush....yufnTwADF-ohSZc

Big fan of these stories since birth so I'll be getting Netflix back at some point to watch whatever comes of it.

They don't mention where she's gonna start, but I fear it's gonna get rebooted and then stall out a few entries in, in perpetuity.

I think the way to make Narnia better is to totally rewrite the story to be the Magicians TV show without Jason Ralph leaving.

I wonder if the reality of “box office flop” is more that people don’t want to spend money at the theater. Most of the time I am happy to just wait it out rather than pay for tickets and overpriced snacks.

As a fan of not only this time period of history, but of Ridley himself, and Joquain Phoenix...I hope this is as good as it looks, because it looks fucking spectacular.

Cannot. Fucking. Wait.

Joy Ride was quite funny and meaningful. I think the writers and actors did a great job of simultaneously showing how Asian home cultures can be great, yet full of problems in different ways than the USA home cultures, which can also be great and full of problems too.

Each of the actors absolutely nailed their roles. The quick pace from scene to scene didn't bog down in the end after the friendship breakup, which was a delight to experience.

Oh hey Mac, Ben Kane wrote a Napoleonic era book that's out now, just a heads up as I recall you enjoyed his Roman stuff.

Sorry, you can blame me when you have to explain more books to your missus.

Looks cute, and it's great to see Noam Chomsky taking lead roles again.
