Watched all five Final Destination movies today, a lazy Sunday. I had only seen the first two before. None of them are great, but 1-3 and 5 are all pretty good. Creative kills (only a couple cheats I didn't like), somewhat more than bare minimum character development (which for horror franchises like this is actually above average), and the special effects are mostly good. They earn their R ratings. Final Destination 4 (aka The Final Destination) on the other hand genuinely sucks. Truly terrible characters, tonally way off (another curse of these extended franchises), and really only one good kill (the salon scene). Plus it came out during the 3D craze of the late 2000s, and has every terrible instinct that trend inspired (there's even a CGI snake that snaps at 'the audience'). Apparently FD5 was in 3D too but it resists all that stupid stuff, maybe only the opening credits betray that, but it was a huge relief after how bad 4 was and has a couple really cool & nasty twists on the formula. Anyway it's like B-, B-, B-, D-, B-. Fun times!
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Finished up A Few Dollars More 34 seconds ago. It all really comes together starting at that 50 minute mark and stays steaming ahead the rest of the way.
Hopefully Prime puts up The Good The Bad and The Ugly when this leaves in 33 hrs.
I want to rewatch Once Upon a Time in the West to.

Lazy film day yesterday watching a few random films…
Ambulance – Michael Bay bank robbery / chase scene film, it is what it is, nothing special popcorn flick worth a watch 6/10.
He Got Game – Denzel late 90s film where he is released from prison to try and convince his basketball superstar son to join a certain college team 6.5/10
Old Henry – Western, farmer takes in a stranger who he found shot on his land, bounty hunters are after him and siege the farm… Old Henry has a cool secret from his past, favourite of the day 7/10
Samaritan – Sly Stallone plays a retired superhero who is in hiding until a boy comes along and discovers his secret, average watch though has a nice twist later on 5.5/10
Nope – The one I was most looking forward to, mystery shenanigans on a farm with people trying to figure out what is going on, a film let down by it's 2nd half 6/10.

Lamb.
Anyone familiar? I'm not going to say anything about it because it needs to be watched going in with no knowledge about it. It's well worth the experience.

Apparently Winnie the Pooh went into the public domain, and as such someone immediately snapped him up and did THE MOST INAPPROPRIATE THING to him.
I hope this movie not only bombs, I hope the writer and director never ever work in the industry again. I want this to be the DON'S PLUM of the 2020's, and end careers of those behind the camera.

Can movies that will never make it into a theater technically 'bomb'? This is going straight to an off-brand Roku channel called like FilmFlix Midnight or whatever.
This reminds me, though, I watched Pig the other night. Pretty good!

I feel like we need to readjust our views of "bomb" in the streaming era...if the film gets watched by very few people, the people who paid for it will be wary of doing so again...and the people behind the camera will get black balled...like the Don's Plum guys.

Wishing the writer and director are blackballed and never work again are only a few steps away from terrible things - ex. like what happened to Salman Rushdie.

That's pretty niche horror man I thought they (the people who made it) tried to make sure it never saw the light of day?

Nope to 3 but West is back up and being rewatched throughout the day.
I love the character jingles each project brings. So much simpler than theme songs.

Watching The Exorcist 3 on Netflix.
Didn't remember there were sequels but I've now watched Red Letter Media's Re:View of The Exorcist movies several times now. Despite not liking horror I felt like watching it.
It's really good so far. Great, snappy dialogue. The movie doesn't show anything specifically horrifying, rather it lingers on the aftermath and the police investigation.

Watched the second Bourne movie (The Bourne Supremacy). Interesting continuation of Jason Bourne's journey and figuring out who he is. Seems like the angle is for Bourne to stay persona non grata until the bad guys bring him out of hiding (assassination attempt in India), and then that triggers more memory by him. It was a fine movie, didn't think it was as good as the first though. Usually the case with sequels, so expected. There's enough groundwork laid down now about Bourne that I want to continue with the next and finish out the three early films. Also, what up with Treadstone? Super assassin black ops program that is scary af.

The Lost City of D is quite good. I'm shocked there's two rather good jungle movies in the last couple years - although I still don't think the Rock was the right fit for that role.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.
