Started off as not a fan of this version of the Turtles, but I ended up liking the show after giving it more of a chance, so this is cream for me and looks really cool to boot!

I have a long running love for the Turtles all the way back to the original Eastman and Laird b&w floppies little me read off the rack at the LCS, and i've kept an open mind about all the various versions since with various degrees of like/dislike... i can even accept the teeth/fangs... but goddammit i HATE that Raphael. He's a damn ninja assassin, not a tank.

Actor James Caan has died. Damn, Misery terrified me back in the day. You know what's weird? I've never seen any of the Godfather movies. I'm going to have to fix that now.

The sheer amount of what Marvel is asking VFX people to do (and Netflix and other studios) in the time frames they are - it's exploitative and it's leading to worse output plus funneling money upwards in a way that will see strip mining of the industry.

Fair play that looks pretty great and quite a departure for her.

Yeah, I'd pump the breaks on that one chief.

You guys are acutely sensitive to shitty things authors, artists, actors et. al have done, so I would be remiss if I didn't suggest that you first google the artist behind the song on which the documentary is based, Don McLean. It wouldn't stop me from watching it because I can separate artist from art. I won't though because it doesn't remotely interest me. Just letting you know though so you can protect yourself.

One positive about the guy, he did pull out of playing the NRA convention that took place the weekend following the Uvalde school shooting, so I guess he has some moral standards and sense of decency. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

D&D fandom: Hey, that D&D movie they made in 2000 with Jeremy Irons and Thora Birch is the worst adaptation of our favourite series right?

Studios: Hold our goddamn beer.

This is supposed to be based on the Forgotten Realms universe I THINK?....but even so...this looks rank. And if you're going to dive into Faerun without Drizzt, you've already lost fans.

I'll hold my entire ire till I see an actual trailer...but yeah, that did not bode well.

EDIT: The only one I'm not mad at is Hugh Grant and that's becuase he's playing The Lord of Neverwinter, as as such fits that part, outfit, tea and all...Everyone else's costumes look horrid. How dare they make Regé-Jean Page look goofy!

For a moment I thought that Sophie Lillis was playing a Tiefling, and I was going to be SUPER annoyed that she was white instead of red or purple....but it appears she's just wearing a thorny looking tiara/headress and the cast listing calls her a druid...

Not even going to touch this. The Jeremy Irons film is still in my top 3 worst films pf all time, if not top of that list. What a steaming pile of manure. Irons was the only redeeming factor in it.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

I dragged 3 friends to see it in the theatre as a D&D fan I HOPED it would be good even if the trailers looks like crap.

They have still not forgiven me. I have still not forgiven myself.

The director, Courtney Solomon, has only directed two other films and both are also irredeemable garbage.

And BOTH screenwriters have not worked on anything of note since.

So yeah, the disaster that is the 2000 D&D movie killed entire careers.

Hell, ERAGON was better (also starring Jeremy Irons) and it was terrible too.

I've never seen Dungeons & Dragons. I've not even checked out parts of it when it has aired innumerable times over the years on various basic tier cable channels. I have a hazy recollection of when the movie came out but recall my reaction to the trailer at that time was a resounding dose of "ugh, that looks awful!" I do remember one of the Wayans bros. was in it and I think I thought out loud "homey don't play that."

Along those lines, remember that dragon movie with Matthew Mcconaughey? Was that any good?

It's alright. Strange pairing for a romcom but they make it work.

Okay so the trailer makes me feel a bit better. IF this hits the right balance it COULD be good.

Also, the druid character DOES have horns, but is not mean tot be a Tiefling, so I'm good on that front too.

I am on a promise to Mr Not a Blacksmith to watch the Jeremy Irons one with him at some point, as he has yet to see it and clearly does not know to count his blessings.

I have demanded unseemly amounts of alcohol be provided. Irons is indeed the only redeemable thing.

This doesn't look particularly inspiring - Hugh Grant does look good, but the rest look far too modern and clean and my brain is screaming "cosplay" at me. I can't see me leaving my "They're never going to make a decent D&D film" cave ultimately, but I'll probably give it a shot.
