Based on the title of Book 10 i figure DoD and TCG will be all about resolving the conflict with the CG. That doesn't mean it will be the ONLY thing the books are about tho'.

Sure we have lots of stray plotlines around, but fundamentally the biggie, Dragnipur and the end of the universe, was resolved in TtH.

Imnsho, 9 and 10 will tie up...

- The fate of the 14th with all related characters;
- the fate of Paran and the Host;
- the fate of Skinner and his 40 Guard;
- the link between the EGs, the dragons, and the conflict with the CG (includes Draconus' return and wtf's up with Krul);
- the CG generally, including the Chaining to Burn (Dassem's daughter, Brood's hammer, the Jade Giants);
- wtf happened to Icarium and whether Mappo will find and help him;
- ST/Cot's master plan (includes Edgewalker, Dassem, Kalam);
- the KC return to Leth and the Skykeeps in the IW;
- who sent the HoLs after Dragnipur.

Plotlines which we know or suspect have been flipped over to ICE and therefore will not figure into DoD or TCG...

- all things Assail;
- all things Darujhistan;
- all things Malazan Empire;
- all things Karsa related;
- all things related to the remaining CrimGrd;
- all things Greymane.

Things i suspect we will never be fully explained or concluded:

- the Azath;
- the Deck;
- Dessimbelackis;
- Apsalar and Cutter;
- the Moranth;
- the fate of the Edur;
- healing/fixing Kurald Emurlahn;
- the Deragoth's pursuit of the Hounds.

- Abyss, can live with that.

I agree with that list with the exception of the Edur/healing Kurald Emurlahn. I don't think that will be forgotten about.
I suspect it may be settled in the first of the new trilogies, the prequel one with the Tiste races. I know those books will be mostly telling the history of those races, but the third book in that series may show the evevtual rebirth of that realm. Maybe.

Am also hoping that we will see Fener in the last 2 books. He is in Letheras, but I want to see a POV from him.

Nowhere in TTH does it say Karsa is staying in Daru to Kill a god.

The message was of two parts.

The first part consisted of Karsa needing to stay to in Daru to fulfil some vow he made.

The second part of it states that he is needed to kill a god, not a god in Daru.

Re Karsa - well, TtH ended with the war gods telling Karsa he had to stay in D'n in order to fulfill the vow he made to kill a god. To my uncertain recall (quotes, anyone, Vaiski, anyone) Karsa's actual vow was to free the CG by cutting his chains, and while killing was implied, Karsa's changed a lot since then. He could up and leave the city just out of sheer spite and end up involved in the last two books.

It seems odd that SE would leave Karsa aside, so either Karsa is on the move or notwithstanding hints to the contrary, SE will be revisiting Darujhistan.

The KE plotline of possibly healing the shattered warren seems linked to whatever ST/Cot are up to, so perhaps that plot isn't actually to be left aside. It just seems secondary to the acyual conflict but SE could easily turn around and show us how it's integral, so i suppose we'll see when we see.

The status of the Errant and Leth's cast in general seems likeit will be left aside. That said, in RG it was suggested that the Errant intended to clash with the MoD, and we know Paran's around so maybe we will see him again. I suspect Tehol will send someone as an ambassador/envoy/participant with Tavore's army but the obvious choices, Bugg, Brys, Ublala or someone else from the Ratcatcher's Guild, all seem unlikely to leave Tehol's side. Then again, i wouldn't put it past Tehol and Tavore to have cooked up a plan for Letherii forces to back up the 14th somehow. A flood of giant lizards from the East wouldn't exactly benefit Leth.

And while we've seen the CG sideline his HoC pawns before... post MoI Gethol all but vanished except for a hint in TB, RCG suggests Skinner and co will be back.

- Abyss, notes whatever happens it will be awesome.

If Karsa isn't in Darujistan in tCG to carry out some significant act I will fly to Canada and touch-up Abyss.

Well I'm just going to say a few things I'm hoping for

Fiddler/Kalam/Quick Ben - Any of these guys getting back together and causing some shit. Kalam has to wake up sometime.

Shadowthrone/Cotillion - I want to know what grand plot they have going on, I can imagine that by previous events, they could only be trying to gain more power.

Tehol/Kruppe/Pust - as someone mentioned, same room, field of battle ANYTHING! It would be wicked to see all 3 team up and save the day in some heroic and funny fashion.

Tiste Liosan/Hounds of Light - So much Edur and Andii, want to balance it out and find out more about these dudes in general.

Karsa/Kallor - I really want them both dead by the end of the series, doesn't matter how. In fact, I'd like Karsa to be killed preferably by a small child, a girl maybe.

Hood/Whiskeyjack/Dead Bridgeburners - I like how Hood accepted WJs comment as valid, that really interested me. Want to see more here.

Coltaine Child - he's gotta come back or something - maybe a scene like the opening one with Paran and WJ from GOTM? I'd like to see a small child Coltaine come along and outwit Duiker or something in a fashion that would remind Duiker of Coltaine.

Forkrul Assail - throw in some super powerful one somewhere? I'd like to know some more about them.

Icarium/Mappo - I truly hope they re-unite, knowing more about the machines would be cool. Someone mentioned something about how does everyone all end up on a different continent for some crazy ending - maybe the machines could act sorta like 'The Ways' or whatever from WOT? They seem a little to advanced to be nothing but big clocks.

Gothos/Fisher/Duiker - A meeting, or just more on the lot of them.

Toc the Elder - alright, maybe I missed this part, or maybe he's showing up in RotCG (haven't gotten it yet, sad i know, im broke fuck off :thumbsup: ) I've ALWAYS been looking for this guy. Is he Edgewalker or something? Didn't something link him to Hood at one point or another? Isn't it strange that Hood picked Toc the Younger as his Herald? Maybe he's following in his fathers footsteps more accurately then he knows! God just bring him out already, or somebody tell me where I missed him! Talk about a shaved knuckle in a very deep hole.

Endest and Brood's chat at the river in TtH suggests the Jaghut and Assail are (still) engaged in a massive conflict somewhere, possibly the continent of Assail but it was ambiguous as to exactly where. I'd like to see this clarified.

That said, the various Kallor scenes leading up to the finale technically provided sufficient information that SE could leave the entire Jaghut history subplot aside now. Post TtH, we now know the Jaghut race rose up from slavery under the KC, eventually went to war against death and basically destroyed itself, reduced to isolationists who mostly lived and died alone, and tyrants who would be overthrown by their own race and their slave Imass, but one Jaghut seized 'control' of death and made it into something more 'acceptable'. We know a few individual jaghut survive and that the Imass assault on the OP warren almost destroyed it but it's recovering in Burn's warren while slowing the CG's infection, and we know the Imass jihads are done.

All that said, we know next to nothing about why/how/where they conflict with the FA. The notion of two nearly extinct races stil duking it out is interesting tho, and i hope SE or ICE get back to this line.

- Abyss, ...feels all inadequate now...

IIRC the FA were said to be dying out mainly due ot lack of caring. IIRC thats from MoI.]

As to why they're fighting the FA, to this day.
Well, their war on death involved battles etc, fielding armies. Now, unless its some sort of epic ritual against death, then they were fighting something.
Unless its a fairly recent war, then the dragon probably knows his stuff, about them having one war.
It could be the same war.
Any evidence otherwise?

I have to be honest. I really do not care what happens in DoD. If the book is badass i will be happy. Oh, and Karsa finally nails Samar Dev.

i think we are done with darujhistan, and so Karsa will be left to ICE. I am waiting for Paran to be super badass in DoD and tCG, somehow allying himself with St and Cot to deal tCG.

i don't mind DoD being a big set up, as long as all of tCG is like the last 200 pgs of TtH.

things i would like to see but dont think will happen is Tehol, Bugg, Iskaral, and Kruppe all in one room. and paran and tavore finding out about felisin

and much much more

I think Tavore finding out about Felisin could be the downfall of the Bonehunters. T'amber seemed to think it was vitally important that she not find out. And Paran not going to investigate Felisin Fatter's cult seems to indicate that he won't find out either.

well, I assume that dust of dreams will center in genabackis and aren with ganoes paran.
there was a little mention of paran in toll the hounds, and it was similar to deadhouse gates' when kalam called on QB and was told that paran and team are in big shiat.
similar to picker calling on paran and getting similar answer.

so I take it, a lot will be around dust of dreams.

I kind of like ganoes paran, he is the underdog of the series, always used, and now he can make some usage of his own.

the whole series starts with him in unta, with a culling, burning fire, it's about to return home.

the name thought, dust of dreams, implies mockra or queen of dreams ?

I just want to see more of Ganoes Paran (another fan here!) and I would love it if Ben / Fiddler / Kalam showed up again too. As for Tavore finding out about Felisin, I have a funny feeling it might happen. I mean, why would T'amber make a big deal about her never finding out if...she was never going to find out? :D SE is setting us up for something, I hope!

The Bridgeburners will almost definatly show up again :D I really wanna see who the Master of the Hounds of Light is, and find out who the CG used to be.

Yep, and it might be significant that Lostara is one of the only people to know about Felisin since Pearls death - and now she's aide to Tavore...
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

i wonder if dod has already occurred? was the call from picker to paran an attempt to contemporise events? if thats the case then we need to focus on the players who were absent from events in tth. queen of dreams, leoman, whiskeyjacks sister, apsalar, paran and the fifth.

It's quite possible that it already started during TTH like MOI did during TDG. But ther are others reentering the ring like those freed from Dragnipur

In other words

Draconus - Elder God
Hood - Former God of Death
Whiskeyjack - His Mason, former commander of the Malazan 2nd and 3rd armies ( like anybody needs to know....)

Whiskeyjack is dead, and was never trapped in Dragnipur :D He'll rejoin the ascended Bridge Burners, I think.

Apsal'ara is also free, I'd like to add, so she's probably going to try to steal the Moon, or Fire, or something stupid and abstract again.

No, the problem is that WJ is sworn to Hood and is still with him when the sword is shattered, so like the other souls he must come out.

Maybe Apsalar vs Apsal'ara in the future ?
