Without actually seeing more of the continent, it's hard to guess what Jacuruku is like.

K'rull removed the damage to leave the continent to heal. I'm guessing he cut away the top layer of the continent or something.

The evidence of this being that there's a lot of structures and machinery left in the Imperial warren.

@Lisheo, good putting the spoilers up. But the book forums encompass spoilers for all books up to and including that book. So since RotCG was released before DoD, no-one who hasn't read it should be in here.

That being said, keep them spoilered, people. I don't think it's fair to expect people to have read RotCG at this point.

I'd appreciate it, since I gotta import the book and it'll cost me about 40 euros.. and I got 40 euros to buy food for this month I can't really buy it for a little while. XD

And thanks for the extra details apt, makes more sense now. :)

Well, there's still some confusion over what needs spoilers and not between the ICE and SE forums.

Generally speaking, there's a lot of people who haven't been able to get their hands on ROTCG (or NoK for that matter) for different reasons, and as such a little consideration isn't too much to ask, at least that's my opinion. Likewise TTH and RG spoilers in ICE's forums are also something you might want to be carefull about.

It doesn't take much effort to hit the spoiler button and it saves people a lot grief.

Apt, so says the spoiler moderator.

I generally spoiler everything in ICE's novels, because It took me long enough to get em, and if I had found a random plot spoiled in an SE forum, I would have been annoyed beyond belief lol :)

7)the story behind the pickled Seguleh
10) Karsa CLEAVING Kallor in half

I think it's highly unlikely that we'll see either of these. Steven Erikson himself said that he hoped ICE would pick up this storyline as he has no intention of doing so. As for Kallor vs. Kars, I just don't see it happening. Karsa tends to have respect for good swordsmen, and saw that in Dassem right away. I'm sure he'd see it in Kallor as well, and their goals allign quite nicely to boot. I mean, Kallor thinks along the exact same lines as Karsa with the whole destroying civilization thing.

Interesting point. As a matter of fact, if Karsa and Kallor met, if they didn't try to kill each other immediately, then there would be a very significant conversation to take place. Kallor already wiped out all of civilization once. Granted, the methodology is different, but in the end it would be an awesome conversation to read.

I don't think the quality of "good swordsman" was what earned Karsa's respect. I think it was a feeling of inherent power, just like Cutter experienced in HoC with the Malazan camp on Drift Avalii. I'd also point to Karsa encountering Rake's presence, I believe, in Darujhistan. This seemed to cause him visible physical distress, from Samar Dev's POV.

Well, after TTH, I've learned my expectations are certain to be misplaced so I'll just state what I would like to see.

Damian Hurst is obviously an ascendant :D

*sigh* well, that was a waste of a pretty good one-liner :p

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

What to expect in DoD.

-Karsa and his army of teblor ( Karsa aint for ICE )

-ST and COT mischief

-Apsalar and Crokus Emohand tragic ending

-Skinner vs seguleh 2nd

-Kallor roaming the earth getting away from high powered ascendants with his above average sword skills

-Silchas Ruin and Nimander meeting, a dispute perhaps on running the ANDI, although Silchas will be reluctant to lead them anyway.

-Tool anhialtes lether for TOC. 14th comes back home perhaps. Icarium finds a digital watch and mappo finally holds hands with him again.

- Set up for CG vs the world: SE leaves us with a cliff hanger ending

-Alot of Anomander Rake references.

What do you all think about Erikson saying DoD will be all about set-up for the final book?
Is it going to satisfy you all?
Will you be expecting a 200 page finale like with Toll?
Or do you not expect a pay-off at all in this book?

I don't expect DoD to have a pay off, itself. I suspect it will just build tension and then the Crippled God will be the pay off :p

I expect the wrapping up of the Lether thread will provide some good payoff.

Then I'm guessing everyone will "do the Perrin" (what Perrin did in some 3-4 books of the Wheel of Time - ride around and mope: the characters in the book will do the riding around to get set for tCG and we the readers will do the moping to get ready for tCG, the book.)

Hmm...well, I don't expect something like the last 200 pages of TTH. I expect a bit of interesting conflicts, probably verbal, coming out of the Lether thing, then it's going to be a build-up. We will probably see people maneuvering, which might involve a bit of combat (hopefully), but it will be like the charge in the air before a storm breaks.

I don't think I'd appreciate DoD if it read like TTH. I'd enjoy it, but I'd rather that it set the scene, and then we get a whole heap of payoff in TCG. I can't see another
Spoiler
incident working, tbh.

@Silencer, maybe you should put that in spoilers as this is a speculation on the next book, which anyone should be able to participate in without having previous books spoiled.

Speculation is based off the previous books, so therefore TTH is free-game in the DoD forum. RotCG is not, however.

I will put spoilers up. But this needs to be the final time. If Mal or Hetan wants to have a say on it, they can sticky a spoiler policy at the top.

Remember, the waste of Jacuruku is actually within the Imperial Warren, which allowed Jacuruku to heal :pizza: So its not actually a wasteland, as such.

Actually I read the prologue of Midnight Tides again earlier, it seems that they only put the ashes in the imperial warren, and left the land bare to heal. So Im pretty sure the continent is still there in Wu.

It should be there because that's where Shurq dropped off Iron Bars and company in Reapers Gale

@ Silencer - I've stickied a spoiler policy as requested.
Both TtH and Return are published and have been for a few months now, so therefore speculation on the effects of these novels is bound to impact on discussions here.
Be careful with topic and thread titles.

I just want to know why the damn moon kerploded...or did I miss something somewhere.

As far as everything else goes, as long as there's brutality, hilarity, and at least the beginings of some closure, i'll be happy....and hopefully some Tehol and Bugg.

So last night I was walking downtown for some pizza at like 1am with some friends of mine,
and someone said, "I'm so hungry I could eat a whole pizza."

I said, "I bet I could eat 100 pizzas," and no one understood me. I was sad.
