Yah. I'll also say...while obviously being strong for her and supportive is generally the 'right' thing as far as these things go, and you'll want to be a rock for her. That doesn't necessarily mean you have to hide it all from her either, at least not always. She's your mom and you're her son, and she can be there for you too in that way. It's not a burden on her to be your mom or your comfort, even now. I'm sure she considers it a blessing. So I know it's overwhelming and you don't want to flood her with that, which is right (and like TS said, others are here for you, here and irl, if you need that outlet), but I guess I'm just saying don't over-correct for it with her so that a wall is always up. Hope that makes sense. There's no perfect way to go through this, but love is the lodestar.

Trying to assemble my ikea couch. 90% done and no problems. However the final screws! Impossible to screw all the way into the wood. Started east, got hard, got impossible and there is still 25% of the screw to go. No idea what’s wrong.

If you have a pencil or something that can go into the hole, see how far down it goes. Sometimes a screw hole isn't completed all the way and needs a drill to extend the length of the hole.

Only 8 screws, and all 8 are a problem. Rest of the couch was bolts or things that needed an Allen key.

I bought a cheap ikea drill/electric screwdriver. Even that can’t make these screws budge. I’m scared to do it but I may try and drill a longer pilot hole if that’s the issue. Need to check if the smallest drill it is a match for the screw. Very small.

Might want to try contacting Ikea if you haven't. Are the holes a consistent depth? If so then shorter screws might work.

Indeed. My step-dad is JUST getting into him (I bought him Courtney's Book 1 for his bday) and he LOVES his work. I've only read his Egypt stuff and a single Courtney adventure, but they were all good. I especially think WARLOCK and RIVER GOD are exceptional historical fiction.

Currently every highway (and road for that matter) connecting the Vancouver area with the rest of Canada is closed due to a combination of flooding, landsides and washouts. The I5 and WA-9 are closed in Washington state, so we couldn't even cut through the US. There are a couple locations where people are being airlifted out because they have been stuck between landslides since Sunday evening. Google maps is good for a peak at how many closures there are now.

It does rain for eight months of the year though, it's just that we don't usually get a months worth of it in 24 hours. Conveniently from a warm front that raised the freezing elevation to mix gobs of rain with snow melt.

My best friends sister-in-law lives in Merritt, BC and they've been evacuated. Sounds crazy out there.
