Saw this. Sad as he gave us so much of his fathers unpublished material.

But wasn't he like 99? Long life, can't complain.

Truly one never knows what's going to happen next with BK.

Back to work on Monday. :(

On the plus side it looks like it's going to be far, far more chilled than my previous workplace.

D&D DMs who think their job it'S to play AGAINST the party, not with it. Fuck's sake, I'd really been looking forward to this campaign.

This is so amateur hour DM. The point is to tell a story and ensure the players have fun, FFS. Not 'win'.

To be fair, many many people new to RPGs don't grasp this concept of playing for fun rather than to win. It runs contrary to how most games are played, and kind of has to be learned. Trying to get a newbie used to first person shooters to grasp that working WITH the other players and actively working within the STORY to do something other than stab kobolds and sautee goblins can be tricky.
Cooperative games like SETTLERS OF CATAN, etc, are an exception to pretty much the entire field.
The player has to be open to it, and the rest of the table has to be open to encouraging the concept.

And if it's the DM... yeah, you're likely screwed, because 'Oh you beat ten goblins huh? well, here come TWELVE HOBgoblins. And three trolls. Three TWO-HEADED trolls. WITH .50 CAL MACHINE GUNS MWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA roll for initiative."

To say nothing of the Nilbogs.

First day in my new gym yesterday (moved with my PT). Three others came over from Wakefield as it was PT's first evening teaching classes, and I'm so glad we were there because this gym is utterly miserable. Not a single person thanked her at the end of classes, just left without a word. Nobody queues or waits, they just barge through because they're clearly more important, and there is no talking or laughter or any levity at all (which we had in abundance at the old one) - they're all just stone faced and miserable. It's also the first time I've been wolf whistled at in a gym (don't get me wrong, I completely ignore it, but added to everything else you definitely register it's a very different atmosphere).

Hopefully it'll improve for PT teaching once she's had a few weeks at it. I'll happily go to a gym and get on with what I'm doing and ignore everyone, so I can't say it will stop me going or anything, but I think we all left with new found appreciation for the old gym. It had its problems but at least the atmosphere was pleasant.
